The Presidents Cup hasn’t been much of a competition over the years with Team USA winning the last nine events while going 12-1-1 since the first playing in 1994. Led by FedExCup champion and seven time PGA Tour winner Scottie Scheffler along with two-time major champion Xander Schauffele, Team USA is favored to continue its dominance. All 12 Americans are ranked among the top 25 in the world. The Presidents Cup returns to Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada with three Canucks on the International squad looking to tame their home course. Team USA won 19.5-14.5 when they played north of the border in 2007. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of prop bets, updated odds, and to place your wager.

Format
A match play format similar to that of the Ryder Cup, though Team USA has excelled against the International team that consists of the best players NOT from Europe, since that is the Ryder Cup. Each team consists of 12 golfers with a captain, who is responsible for choosing the pairs for the doubles events. The first day of competition has five foursome matches followed by five four-ball matches on Day 2. The third day has four matches of each with the final day of competition consisting of 12 singles matches. A total of 30 points are available with the first team to 15.5 being declared the winner. A change prior to the 2019 edition required players to compete in just one match prior to the singles matches. In previous years the required number was two.
US Team
The sport may have originated in Scotland but it’s America’s game now. Scheffler and Schauffele were easily the best players on the PGA Tour this season ranked 1 and 2 in the OWGR and they are joined by Collin Morikawa (4), Wyndham Clark (6) and Patrick Cantlay (9) as top-10 figures. Max Homa is the lowest ranked American at No. 25. As a result you can see why Team USA is favored. Rankings don’t always mean success, though. The second largest gap in terms of average OWGR came at the 1998 Presidents Cup with nearly 21 spots in favor of the Americans. The International team went on to win that event 20.5-11.5 at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia.
Seven players return from the victorious 2022 squad and the Americans are looking to get more from Scheffler. His half-point earned was the lowest on the team and his 0-3-1 record was the worst. Cantlay has been a stud in international events going 6-3-0 in the Presidents Cup and 5-2-1 in Ryder Cup play. Homa was 4-0-0 in 2022 and may have to anchor the squad since Jordan Spieth (5-0-0 in 2022) didn’t qualify.
International Team
Since the top European golfers are excluded from this event the International team has struggled. Captain Mike Weir used three of his picks on Canadiens hoping that some home cooking can snap a drought in this competition. Two years ago the International Team had a roster of youth and inexperience that didn’t fare well in the 17.5-12.5 loss. That might be why Weir tabbed MacKenzie Hughes, who is the lowest ranked player in the field at No. 61. Taylor Pendrith makes his second Presidents Cup appearance after going 0-4-0 in 2022. Outside of rookies Hughes and Min Woo Lee, the team has plenty of Presidents Cup experience.
There is plenty of talent on the squad with former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama the highest ranked player at No. 7. Sungjae Im has wielded fantastic form over the last few months and has experience with this his third Presidents Cup. He was 2-2-1 in the 2022. This will be at least the third competition for five team members with Adam Scott making his 11th appearance. He’s tied for the most points among Internationals in Presidents Cup history and has played brilliantly of late. And every player has enjoyed some level of success on the PGA Tour.
Course
Royal Montreal Golf Club hosts for the second time and is no stranger to most in the field. The track has hosted the Canadian Open 10 times but underwent some changes ahead of the 2024 Presidents Cup. The course was lengthened by nearly 300 yards extending the distance to 7,279 yards, though that number is subject to change. Still, it’s not long by pro standards making accuracy a key element.
