2024 Presidents Cup Golf Props

Golf betting has become increasingly attractive for sportsbooks with tournaments and events taking place nearly every week. And unlike other sports there is no offseason. The PGA Tour resumed just two weeks after the season-ending TOUR Championship. The popularity of the game also has bettors flocking to the betting window with a chance to make a few bucks. When events like the Presidents Cup roll around the entire golf world is focused on a singular course with many of the best players in the world competing.

With a stacked roster featuring all 12 members ranked among the OWGR top 25, the Americans are a big favorite to continue their run of dominance. Team USA has won nine straight Presidents Cup trophies and is 12-1-1 since the event was first staged in 1994. The event featuring American golfers and non-European international players heads north of the border with three native Canadians on the International Team roster. Team USA opened as a -240 favorite with the Internationals at +242. There’s always a chance the match ends in a tie with that outcome at +1405. The 2003 edition ended at 17-17.

The match-play event spans four days and will be televised on Golf Channel and NBC. It starts on Sept. 26 with a format similar to what’s used in the Ryder Cup. Teams will play five ‘foursome’ matches on Day 1, five ‘fourball’ matches on Day 2 with four of each contested on Day 3. The final day of competition has 12 singles matches. And of course you can wager on the outcome of daily events and even the score. Let’s take a look at a few team and individual props to see where money can be made on the 2024 Presidents Cup.

Certain players are going to play more matches giving them an opportunity to amass more points. In Team USA’s 2022 victory Jordan Spieth was perfect going 5-0-0 for a Presidents Cup best five points. Two other players not among the top favorites also earned four points. Everybody has to play giving them a chance to win this prop. Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 ranked golfer, FedExCup champion, seven-time PGA Tour winner and Olympic gold medalist, has had quite a year. It’s no surprise he tops the list but he hasn’t had a lot of success in international matches going 0-3-1 in the 2022 Presidents Cup. Max Homa recently missed the cut in Napa magnifying his late season struggles, but he was a beast in 2022 going 4-0-0 and he was 3-1-1 at the 2023 Ryder Cup. His experience and success in team settings makes him worth a look at +1100

Hideki Matsuyama +700

Sungjae Im +750

Corey Conners +800

Taylor Pendrith +800

Tom Kim +800

The International squad boasts two rookies and five players with one previous Presidents Cup appearance, so it makes sense that veteran and former Masters champ Hideki Matsuyama is favored to lead the team. He went 1-3-1 in 2022 and has compiled a 6-7-4 record in four previous Presidents Cup appearances. Hoping for a home field advantage captain Mike Weir tabbed three Canadians – Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and MacKenzie Hughes – with his picks. Hughes debuts while the other two both went 0-4-0 in 2022. Conners is the top ranked Canuck on the squad and he’s looking to better his results from two years. I think he’s worth a look at his price, though Tom Kim used his 2022 Presidents Cup visit as a springboard for successful stint on the PGA Tour.

Will There be a Hole in One?

Yes +300

No -400

You can place a wager on the exact score of a match on a particular day and even on the final count. Oddsmakers nailed it in 2022 with the final score of Team USA winning 17.5-12.5 the favorite. However, there is another prop that has become one of the most popular in golf betting circles and that’s for a player hitting an ace. Additional yardage was tacked onto the Blue Course at Royal Montreal Golf Club, though it’s still short by pro standards at less than 7,300 yards. Two holes are less than 200 yards and two more are under 250 yards presenting enough chances for some of the game’s best sink an ace. And at +300 for it to happen it’s worth dropping a few bucks on.
