The COVID pandemic hasn’t affected the playing of the 3M Open, which operates this week on its originally scheduled dates. Following the doubleheader at Muirfield Village the PGA Tour heads to Minnesota for the second edition of this event, contested at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine. There is a drop in the talent pool from last week’s Memorial with many high-profile golfers gearing up for the WGC and PGA Championship coming up. This is a good time for Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka to get back in the swing of things. They sit atop the odds board with defending champ Matthew Wolff a little further down the chart. BookMaker.eu has a complete updated list of betting odds for this week’s 3M Open.

Odds Analysis
Sam Burns +4500
Going with the favorites in a field like this is tempting, but when they’ve struggled it’s hard to justify backing them. So, let’s take a look down the odds list for golfers that have better value. Burns has the type of game that can be successful at TPC Twin Cities – he can drive the ball and usually putts effectively. The combo resulted in a T7 last year. A T17 at the Workday was his best since the restart and he appears to be recovering from a wrist injury that stunted his progress.
Harris English +2831
Following his T17 at the RBC Heritage, English took some additional time off. The tactic paid off when he shared 13th at the Memorial. This is as high up the odds board I go and it’s because English has been a model of consistency with nine top-20s, five of those among the top-10. He’s been solid with every stick in his bag and wielding them all expertly is something that the winner needs to do.
Jhonattan Vegas +7000
There are value plays in the field, but I’m not going further down the list than what Vegas is priced at. The field is strong enough to see someone higher up take the trophy. That being said Vegas fits the profile of what can work on this layout. He ranks 17th on Tour in driving distance and his work with the flat stick has improved. He hasn’t lost strokes off the tee since October and he’s looking to make up for a MC at the Workday.
Henrik Norlander +5500
Norlander was on fire with the flat stick last week leading to a T6 at the Memorial. Now, if he can just save strokes getting to the green he might be in contention. It’s not a stretch to believe that can happen. Norlander has always been known as a superlative ball-striker and he should stay out of trouble with accurate tee shots.
Erik Van Rooyen +3545
A mainstay on the Euro circuit since turning pro, Van Rooyen returns to his old stomping grounds so to speak. He played collegiately at the University of Minnesota and received a sponsor invite, but he isn’t a charity case. Looking to make the jump to the PGA Tour, the South African put himself in a good spot with last week’s T22 at the Memorial. He ranked among the 10 best in GIR and strokes gained: tee to green at Muirfield Village.
Course: TPC Twin Cities – 7,431 yards, Par 71
The course received a facelift a few years ago ahead of the Tour’s arrival, stretching it out to 7,431 yards. TPC Twin Cities was a longtime stop on the Champions Tour with that agreement expiring in 2018. Opened in 2000, it was considered by many to be one of that Tour’s top courses. Even with the additional yardage the layout is straightforward. There are a number of water hazards spread around the property, but considering the landing areas are large by Tour standards, the water becomes a non-factor. If players stay dry there is a chance to go low. Matthew Wolff won the inaugural version at 21-under tying the round and setting the tournament record score. In the end the golfer with the hottest putter will have the best chance.
