The Tiger Woods hype is in full force this week, as Tiger is listed as the favorite to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational. There is no question that Tiger played well last week at the Valspar Championship, but he still didn’t win. Things couldn’t have set up better for Tiger last week, as very few top players were in position to challenge, but Tiger just played average on Sunday and was passed up by Paul Casey. Woods is listed as the favorite this week at odds of +650, while Jason Day is the second choice at odds of +1100. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for the Arnold Palmer Invitational that begins on Thursday.

Odds Analysis
Tiger Woods +650
The hype on Woods is already out of control. It is simply ridiculous to have Tiger listed as the favorite this week. Yes, he played much better last week, but he didn’t take advantage of his chances on Sunday and lost. Tiger has not even played Bay Hill in five years. He has won eight times at Bay Hill, but despite the hype, Tiger is no longer a great player. Can he win? Yes? Will he win? Probably not and these odds are simply way too low and there is no way I would recommend taking him.
Jason Day +1100
Day should be listed as the favorite in this event, and not Tiger. If Day is healthy, and that is always a concern, he is a very good player. Day has already said that he is treating every tournament like his last because of his back and that means he is going all out to win. He won this event in 2016 and I like him in this event at odds of +1100.
Justin Rose +1400
Rose just couldn’t make any putts last week at the Valspar or he probably would have won. He has a runner-up and three other top 10 finishes in this event. He should be right in the mix again on Sunday.
Tommy Fleetwood +1800
Fleetwood has proven he can play on the PGA Tour as well as the European Tour. He finished fourth at the Honda and 14th in Mexico. He led the European Tour last year in GIR and he looks like he can contend on a regular basis on the PGA Tour.
Rory McIlroy +1800
Rory has not figured out his problems yet this year. He didn’t even make the cut at the Valspar last week and I can’t recommend taking him until he shows he has his problems worked out.
Rickie Fowler +2000
I think you can make a case for taking Rickie at these odds. If he was listed at odds of +1000 then I would pass, but at +2000 he is definitely worth a look. He is actually the honorary co-host of this event this week.
Marc Leishman +4000
I am surprised that Leishman is listed at odds this high. He is the defending champion and he almost always plays well at Bay Hill. He has two top 10 finishes this season and he has scored really well on par 5’s this season.
Kevin Chappell +5000
My other longshot this week is Chappell. He has the length to do well at Bay Hill and he has had previous success. He finished just one shot back of Jason Day a couple of years ago. He has three top 25 finishes this season. He is fifth in strokes gained tee-to-green this season.
Course: Bay Hill Club & Lodge is a par 72 that measures 7,419 yards. The course was built in 1961 and is known as “Arnie’s Place.” Last week’s Valspar Championship had a closing stretch of holes known as the “Snake Pit.” This week’s closing stretch of holes at Bay Hill doesn’t have a nickname, but they have seen some dramatic finishes, including in 1990 when Robert Gamez holed out to beat Greg Norman.
