There is an alternate event on the PGA Tour this week for players who didn’t make it into the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. That tournament is the Barracuda Championship in Nevada that features the Modified Stableford scoring where players earn five points for eagles, two for birdies, zero for par, while bogeys and double bogeys are minus points. Beau Hossler is the highest ranked player in the Field in terms of the FedExCup standings and Hossler is the favorite at odds of +700. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for Barracuda Championship.

Odds Analysis
Beau Hossler +700
It is easy to see why Hossler is the favorite. He has five top 10 finishes this season including a playoff loss at the Houston Open. He is the highest ranked player in the field at No. 68 in the world. He is also tied for fourth on the PGA Tour this season in birdies and it is going to take a low score to win this event.
Joel Dahmen +1050
I think there is a lot of value on Dahmen this week and it could be he gets his first career win. He has played really well of late with four straight top 15 finishes.
Richy Werenski +1450
Werenski nearly won this event a year ago but lost to Chris Stroud in a playoff. I don’t think Werenski has a lot of value at these odds.
Shane Lowry +1450
Lowry is an interesting pick, as he normally isn’t entered in an event like this. He has the distance off the tee to do well. The concern I have with back him is that he hasn’t really played well of late.
Kevin Streelman +1700
Streelman would seem to fit in well in this tournament, but I would like to get more value in terms of odds than +1700.
Ryan Palmer +1800
Palmer has not had a good season but there is one stat that he has in his favor that has me giving him a look this week. He is 17th on the PGA Tour in birdie average.
Kevin Tway +2200
If you want some value this week it could be on Tway, as he continues to play well and he is tied for 4th on the PGA Tour with Hossler for birdies.
Ollie Schniederjans +2400
Ollie has played with the top players in the world all year and held his own. This week he gets a much weaker field. Ollie is tied for 21st on the PGA Tour in birdie average and I think he can contend for the win this week at nice odds.
Course: Montreux G&CC is a par 72 that measures 7,472 yards. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus and features seven lakes and four waterfalls. It actually has a “Bear Trap” which are holes 6-8, featuring a short par 3 over water and a 636-yard par 5. The course is considered relatively easy, as it would have ranked third if it was ranked on the PGA Tour in terms of regular scoring.
