We are down to 70 in the FedExCup Playoffs for this week’s BMW Championship. Dustin Johnson is listed as the favorite to win this week, but D.J. has failed to deliver as the favorite quite a lot recently. Bryson DeChambeau has dominated the FedExCup so far, winning each of the first two events. History is against DeChambeau this week, as no player has ever won three FedExCup events in the same season. I am coming off a rare bad week with the matchups, as I went 1-3-1 in the Dell Technologies Championship. Let’s look at the odds and matchups for this week’s BMW Championship.

BMW Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. Johnson, Thomas and DeChambeau are pretty much assured of a top five spot in the standings for the Tour Championship in two weeks, and that would give them control, as being in the top five and then winning the Tour Championship gives a player the FedExCup title. I don’t know that any of the three will be that motivated to win this week. This event is being held at the Aronimink Golf Club. It has not hosted this event since 2011 and is said to be much different and actually playing easier than in the past.
Webb Simpson -115 vs. Phil Mickelson
I think Simpson will bounce back after struggling in the final two rounds last week. Mickelson barely made the cut last week and then had a great final round. I still think Simpson is the better player and we get him at basically a pick in this matchup.
Marc Leishman -115 vs. Henrik Stenson
Leishman is the defending champion, while Stenson hasn’t shown much of late. I know this is a different course, but Leishman is still capable of going low. I will lay the small price and take Leishman in this matchup.
Brandt Snedeker -115 vs. Gary Woodland
I think Snedeker is being undervalued this week. It wasn’t that long ago that he won a tournament and he is capable of contending this week. I will take Snedeker in this matchup.
Rafa Cabrera-Bello -110 vs. Paul Casey
Another player who is undervalued is RCB, who led the field at TPC Boston in greens in regulation. He is seventh on the PGA Tour in GIR this season and he has four top 20 finishes in his last five starts. I will take RCB in this matchup.
Kyle Stanley -115 vs. Billy Horschel
Stanley is an excellent ball striker who should do well at Aronimink. He played this course in 2011 and finished tied for 34th. Horschel is lucky just to be in the Top 70 and playing this week. I will take Stanley in this matchup at the low price.
