Dustin Johnson is listed as the favorite to win the Dell Technologies Championship, the second event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. 100 players remain with a chance to win the FedExCup and that number will be cut to 70 following this event. I am coming off a 2-3 week with the matchups at The Northern Trust. Let’s look at the odds and matchups for this week’s Dell Technologies Championship that begins on Friday and concludes on Monday.

Dell Technologies Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. TPC Boston has some very predictable statistics to look at. The last four winners of this event have excelled in four categories. Those four categories are strokes gained putting, strokes gained tee to green, proximity to the hole and par-3 scoring.
Justin Thomas -130 vs. Brooks Koepka
Thomas won this event last year and led the field in strokes gained: tee-to-green, scrambling and par-4 scoring. He has three straight top 8 finishes overall. Koepka tied for 18th in this event last year. I think Thomas is still a better player than Koepka and we get him at a short price in this matchup.
Rory McIlroy -120 vs. Jordan Spieth
I like it that Rory took last week off. He has won this event twice and is the all-time earnings leader at TPC Boston. I continue to go against Spieth, as I just don’t believe he has turned the corner. Spieth has not won a tournament this year. I will take Rory at the short price in this matchup.
Patrick Cantlay -130 vs. Bryson DeChambeau
Cantlay tied for 13th in his debut in this event last year. I know that DeChambeau won last week, but I don’t see him finishing great in back-to-back weeks. I will take Cantlay in this matchup.
Adam Scott +115 vs. Tiger Woods
I am a little surprised Scott is the underdog in this matchup. He won this event back in 2003 and he has five other top 10 finishes. He is playing really well right now and is 16th on the PGA Tour in Shots Gained: Tee-to-Green. Tiger is playing okay, but he has yet to win and as I have said many times before, he is just another player right now. He will probably win again, but not against a top field.
Webb Simpson -155 vs. Billy Horschel
Simpson won this event in 2011. He comes in playing really well with five straight top 30 finishes. He ranks sixth in one of our key stats this week, shots gained: putting. Horschel will occasionally show up with a big effort, but more often than not he is well down the leaderboard. I will lay the price and take Simpson in this matchup.
