Fortinet Championship Golf Odds - PGA Tour Betting

Fortinet Championship Golf Odds

There is no offseason on the PGA Tour. Just a few weeks after the season-ending TOUR Championship, the 2021-22 season gets underway from wine country with the rebranded Fortinet Championship taking place at Silverado Resort and Spa in Napa, Calif. Formerly known as the Safeway Open, the first event of the new season has an impressive list of Tour veterans and a good supply of recent Korn Ferry Tour graduates stocking the field. World No. 1 and FedExCup runner-up Jon Rahm headlines the field as a prohibitive betting favorite. Major winners from last season Phil Mickelson and Hideki Matsuyama are also included as is three-time KFT champion Mito Pereira. Odds Analysis

Stephan Jaeger +6600

Making the leap to the PGA Tour is akin to getting the call up to the show in baseball. We’ve seen minor league stars fade in the majors, but we’ve also seen some have extraordinary debuts and careers. What’s in store for Jaeger as he takes the next step in his golf expedition? He was solid on the KFT with seven podium finishes, including two victories, among his 13 top-10s. And he closed the season on a fancy run with three straight top-5s. I don’t think the moment will be too big and he’s worth a look at his current price.

Mito Pereira +6000

Back-to-back wins on the KFT back in June got Pereira a spot on the PGA Tour where he enjoyed some success with a T5 in the Barbasol Championship and T6 in the 3M Open. He followed those tournaments by barely missing the medal stand in the Olympics. Now that he’s had some time to reflect on his accomplishments I can see the young Chilean having a strong showing in Napa with a well-rounded game that produced a total of three wins on the KFT.

Jon Rahm +450

Is there anybody as good as Rahm at the game of golf right now? It would be hard to argue there is considering what he’s accomplished in his last five starts going 1-T3-3-T9-2 over that span. He’s such a big favorite and with his odds so short there isn’t much value in backing the No. 1 ranked player. And I have to wonder how motivated he’s going to be outside the spotlight of the FedExCup playoffs and major championships. I can see a drop in play which is why I’m fading him this week.

Brendan Steele +9000

It was a quiet close to last season for Steele with four MCs and no finish better than T37 in his last eight starts. I guess that’s why you can buy the veteran at a hefty price. But there is something to be said about his history at Silverado making him an intriguing play. He won back-to-back titles in 2017 and 2018 and was in contention last year before finishing T29. Looking for better things this season, a return to one of his favorite courses could be what gets him going, and the price is right.

Will Zalatoris +2800

What will Zalatoris do for an encore? The recently minted Tour Rookie of the Year playing on a temporary membership will be playing for the first time as a full member of the PGA Tour. He had eight top-10s and made 21 cuts in 25 starts last season. A runner-up at the Masters was his best finish. The only thing he didn’t do last season was win a tournament. Maybe he can start the new season with his first career title.

Course: Silverado Resort and Spa – 7,123 yards, Par 72

The North Course at Silverado will host this tournament for the eighth consecutive year. The layout isn’t particularly long at less than 7,200 yards, and it isn’t difficult. There is no style that fits Silverado better than others. Some players will try and hit the snot out of the ball to gain an advantage on approach. Others will club down to navigate around the tree-lined fairways and stay out of the rough. Getting off line from the tee box isn’t a major problem with the rough not very penal. Winning scores here ranged between -14 and -18, proving that solid play in every area can carry you to the weekend. We can expect to see some low rounds and low scores with the weather cooperating.
