You know the PGA Tour is getting serious when the game’s big guns start pegging it up. And we’ll see the biggest gun of them all this week with Tiger Woods scheduled to play in an official event for the first time in nearly a year at this week’s Genesis Invitational. Woods will attract plenty of attention just because he’s Tiger Woods, but oddsmakers realize how difficult it is to contend against the best players in world after such a lengthy time on the shelf. Woods is well down the odds board in the outright market and a big underdog in his matchups. Nine of the top 10 players in the OWGR are set to compete with No. 1 Scottie Scheffler the outright betting favorite. All 10 players are featured in tournament matchups, including Max Homa, who is the most recent champion competing. Homa won in 2021 beating Tony Finau in a playoff. Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann elected to take their game to LIV Golf. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of matchup betting odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
Not much has changed with this tournament over the years. The 7,322-yard, par-71 Riviera Country Club will serve as host, like it’s done with a few exceptions since 1973, and looks very similar to what players have seen over the last decade or so. With six par 4s that play over 455 yards and a pair of 580-plus yard par 5s, the course plays longer than its length making drivers a weapon of choice. There are no water hazards, but accuracy is a must with narrow fairways, strategically placed bunkers and a layer of thick rough that swallows golf balls serving as obstacles. With Rahm competing in LIV Golf we will see a new champion for the 15th straight year. There hasn’t been a Genesis repeat since Phil Mickelson in 2008-09.
Genesis Invitational Matchup Picks
Max Homa +106 vs. Viktor Hovland
It isn’t by accident that all my matchup picks are plus odds players. There is plenty of value in all of them and I’m always searching for money-makers. Besides, what’s the point in always backing the favorite? Anyway, Homa might be undervalued after his MC in Phoenix but there’s no mistaking his presence at Riviera. He finished among the top 10 in each of his last four starts here with a win in 2021 a runner-up in 2020 and a T5 last year. He seems to enjoy the layout.
Ludvig Aberg +113 vs. Collin Morikawa
Maybe Aberg just isn’t a fan of the Aloha State. A disappointing stint on the Hawai’i Swing was soon replaced by the usual consistent play once he returned stateside. And we haven’t seen much of a downturn since he helped the Europeans capture the Ryder Cup last year. Aberg is coming off a pair of top 10s that included a runner-up at Pebble Beach in his most recent start.
Jason Day +105 vs. Nicolai Hojgaard
When Day is on his power and accuracy are a perfect fit for the Riviera layout. He is coming off a T6 at Pebble Beach, his second top 10 in four starts this season, a sign that his game is in a good place. And he is coming off his best finish in the Genesis when he closed with a 65 to capture ninth place by himself. He continues to play well enough to tantalize bettors but he’s lacked the oomph to get over the finish line first, thus making him a great matchup bet at plus odds.
Tony Finau +106 vs. Sam Burns
We haven’t seen the best of Finau this season, though he did pop for a T6 at the Farmers a few weeks ago. That was his best finish since winning the Mexico Open last July. However, Finau had some outstanding work in unofficial events in December and he’s played the weekend in each of his last six starts at Riviera with a pair of runner-up showings among his four top 20s. At plus odds in this matchup it’s hard to say no to Finau.
Hideki Matsuyama +106 vs. Beau Hossler
There were some health issues going on that led to some uneven play from Matsuyama since his win two years ago at the Sony Open. He appears to be getting back to the consistent performer we’ve become accustomed to going 5 for 5 this season with a T22 and T13 in two of his last three starts. He’s also put up decent results at Riviera finishing among the top 11 four times in his last eight starts at this joint.
