Genesis Scottish Open Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Genesis Scottish Open PGA Odds

The Genesis Scottish Open has been played on the DP World Tour since the early 1970s. Back then and until recently the circuit was known as the European Tour. For the third straight year the tournament will be co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour with the field roughly split in half between membership from each body only strengthening the field and making the event more popular. Betting favorite Rory McIlroy looks to become the first repeat winner in this event after his one-shot win last year when he birdied the final two holes. It’s McIlroy’s first start since his runner-up at the U.S. Open last month. Right there with McIlroy on the odds board is 2022 champ Xander Schauffele, who also triumphed by a single shot. Odds Analysis

Ludvig Aberg +1600

I couldn’t decide between the favorites so I dropped down to the next tier and spotted Aberg. He’s been a beast for the last year and he has some demons to exorcise at this joint after missing the cut last July, which is one of only two MCs on his resume. Since his last MC at the PGA Championship in May, Aberg was T5 at the Memorial, T12 at the U.S. Open and T27 at the Travelers. He’s been a model of consistency racking up six top 10s this year and he has experience on links courses making him a great option.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout +7000

Earning his stripes on the European Tour, Bezuidenhout returns to his roots in a way. He never really left, though, having played several tournaments on the circuit in the last eight months and excelling at them all. In his last four starts on the DP Tour the South African has a pair of top 5s along with a T9 and T17. He’s also finished among the top 25 in four of his last six starts on the PGA Tour. Bezuidenhout is a sleeper and at his price he’s worth the risk.

Thomas Detry +7500

Strong recent form and a history on this course make Detry an intriguing. And his price doesn’t hurt, either. Three years ago Detry lost in a playoff and in 2022 he earned a share of 10th overcoming an opening 73. For the season Detry has seven top 20s with five of them putting him among the top 10. In his two major starts Detry has a T4 from the PGA Championship in May and grabbed a share of 14th last month at the U.S. Open.

Collin Morikawa +1400

He’s been one of if not the hottest golfer without a win over the last three months, so I’m betting Morikawa changes the narrative. Including his podium at the Masters in April, Morikawa is 9 for 9 having finished among the top 16 in all starts on his own ball. In addition to his T3 at Augusta, Morikawa also has a runner-up at the Memorial with top 5s at the Schwab and Memorial. It’s safe to say he’s in a good place so I’ll overlook his MC here in 2022.

Aaron Rai +5000

Does recent form mean more than course form or vice versa? Rai has MCs in his last two starts in this event, but he enters following a T7 at the John Deere Classic and T2 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic part of his three top 10s in his last seven starts. On top of that he has two top 10s with all of that coming in the last few months. Another hot golfer with a nice payout is worth the risk.

Course: The Renaissance Club – 7,237 yards, Par 70

Serving as host for a sixth straight tournament, the Renaissance Club is a typical links course and a good prep for The Open next week. There wasn’t much work done when the course was completed in 2008. It was basically carved into the existing landscape, which is typical of links-style courses around these parts. And like with all links courses, wind can and likely will be a factor. Stretching to 7,237 yards at par 70, the layout isn’t as wide open as some links layouts giving the field something to think about. Scores have varied in this tournament since moving to the Renaissance Club with Bernd Wiesberger posting a course record 22-under 262 in the initial playing in 2019. Schauffele finished at 7-under in 2022.
