Francesco Molinari is favored to win this week’s John Deere Classic which begins on Thursday. The event does not have a strong field, as most of the world’s top players are taking the week off to prepare for next week’s Open Championship. Molinari is the only player listed at single-digit odds. We are coming off a 2-3 week with the matchups at The Greenbrier. Let’s look at the odds and picks for this week’s John Deere Classic.

John Deere Classic Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. Hitting greens in regulation and scrambling are key stats to consider this week but it is worth noting that DeChambeau was 11th in greens hit last year when he won and just 29th in scrambling. He did lead the field in par-3 scoring. TPC Deere Run is a par 71 that measures 7,268 yards. It is all about hitting fairways on this course, as the last six winners of this event have had strong driving accuracy stats.
Chesson Hadley +110 vs. Steve Stricker
I know that Stricker has done really well in his career in this tournament, but most of that success was years ago. In 9 of his last 10 rounds at TPC Deere Run he has been outside of the top 25. Hadley is simply the better player at this point in their careers, as he has seven top 10 finishes this season. I will take Hadley at plus money.
Kyle Stanley -110 vs. Steve Stricker
I am going against Stricker in two matchups this week. Stanley has been solid all season, as he ranks 4th on the PGA Tour in fairways hit, fifth in GIR and he has four top 25 finishes in this event.
Patrick Rodgers -105 vs. Aaron Wise
Rodgers led this event after the second and third round last year but was passed up for the win by DeChambeau in the final round. Rodgers plays this course a lot and I expect him to contend again for the win this week.
Kevin Tway +115 vs. Chez Reavie
Tway tied for 12th in this event last year. He is coming off a tie for 6th at the Travelers. I am surprised he is listed at plus money in this matchup against Reavie. I will take Tway here.
Joel Dahmen -115 vs. Nick Watney
Dahmen has six top 25 finishes in his last eight starts. He is known as a very good player on courses like this one and we get him at a short price in this matchup against Watney.
