An excellent field is assembled for this week’s Memorial Tournament in Ohio, as eight of the world’s top ten are competing. World No. 1 Justin Thomas is not the favorite, as he is listed as the co-fourth choice in the betting. Former No. 1 Dustin Johnson has the favorite’s role at odds of +1150, while last week’s winner Justin Rose is the second choice at odds of +1200. Let’s look at the odds and predictions for the Memorial Tournament.

Odds Analysis
Dustin Johnson +1150
It is hard to get too excited about taking Johnson right now. He has not won a tournament since January and simply hasn’t had the look of a player who wants to win. That may change, but right now Johnson is overvalued.
Justin Rose +1200
I almost never go with a player to win in back-to-back weeks, but you can make a case for Rose. He won this event in 2010 and finished second in 2008 and 2015. He is in excellent form and he is capable of winning in two straight weeks.
Jason Day +1250
You can make a case for Day winning this week, as he is putting the ball extremely well and he calls Dublin his adopted home town, as his wife grew up nearby. The only problem is that Day’s best finish in this event is a tie for 15th.
Justin Thomas +1300
The current World No. 1 finished fourth in this event a year ago. He slumped a little bit in his pursuit of Johnson for the top ranking, but he should be relaxed now that he has it. I think he has some value at these odds.
Rory McIlroy +1300
Rory nearly won on the European Tour last week and when he is playing his best he is capable of beating any field. The problem with backing Rory is that he simply doesn’t win that often.
Jordan Spieth +1500
As I say nearly every week, I want no part of taking Spieth until he figures out his putting. And despite what Spieth has said, he still hasn’t figured it out.
Rickie Fowler +1900
Fowler finished second in this event to Rose in 2010 and he finished second last year. The problem with backing Rickie is that like Rory, he simply doesn’t win that often.
Tiger Woods +1900
Woods has won this event five times, but he has not played Memorial since 2015. Woods is playing well and is back among the list of contenders. I don’t think he will ever be great again, but he is now good enough to be put in the mix with some other players and that means on a given week he could win.
Chesson Hadley +7000
I am surprised that Hadley is listed with odds this high. He is 14th in scoring average this season on the PGA Tour and he is tied for 2nd in most top 10 finishes. I think he is worth a shot at these odds.
Course: Muirfield Village Golf Club is a par 72 that measures 7,392 yards. It is known as Jack’s place, as Jack Nicklaus is the course designed. The course has hosted the Memorial Tournament since 1974. Jason Dufner rallied to win this event a year ago coming from four shots back. Six of the last 14 winners of this event have been International players.
