The PGA Tour takes a week off as some players head to the Olympics in Japan. Some of the luster of winning a gold medal in golf has been lost, as this year’s Olympics have no fans and the overall level of excitement is down. That does not mean we won’t have an exciting event, as there are still many top players who will be trying to win the gold medal. Collin Morikawa is trying to add to his excellent season by winning gold and he is the betting favorite. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of tournament matchup odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Olympics Golf Matchup Picks
Justin Thomas -130 vs. Rory McIlroy
I know that this season has not been a great one for Justin Thomas and he really hasn’t been in contention for a win since March, but Thomas is an excellent putter and this week is all about putting on these greens. Thomas also has a tendency to rise to the occasion and I expect him to do that this week. On the other side, McIlroy has been inconsistent all year and this will be his Olympics debut. I will lay the price and take Thomas in this matchup.
Sungjae Im -110 vs. Corey Conners
One of my picks to win in the odds article was Im and it makes sense that I take him in a matchup. He is very capable of shooting a low score and getting hot and that is what is needed on this track. I know that Conners is having a decent season, but I am going with Im in this matchup.
Mackenzie Hughes -105 vs. Jhonattan Vegas
One thing that I have noticed about Vegas is that he plays well in tournaments that are a bit off the radar like last week’s 3M Open and struggles in high profile events. I don’t see Vegas stepping up this week at all, despite playing well last week. I will take Hughes in this matchup.
Abraham Ancer -150 vs. Christiaan Bezuidenhout
Ancer could be an interesting pick to win and I probably should have included him in my odds preview. He usually putts really well and this course seems well suited to his game. I think he is the clear choice in this matchup.
Patrick Reed -115 vs. Paul Casey
Reed was fortunate to get into the Olympics as it took Bryson DeChambeau testing positive for COVID-19. Now that he is in it would not be surprising to see him contend. We know that Reed is an excellent putter and he should do really well on these greens. Casey is solid tee-to-green but he doesn’t always convert on the greens. I will take Reed in this matchup.
