Olympic golf action begins this week in Japan with Collin Morikawa listed as the favorite. The 60-man field is not as strong as it could have been as World No. 1 Jon Rahm and World No. 6 Bryson DeChambeau withdrew due to COVID. Morikawa is listed at odds of +675, while Xander Schauffele is the second choice in the Olympic golf betting odds at +905. The action in Japan begins on Thursday, and that means golfers will be on the course on Wednesday afternoon Eastern Time. BookMaker.eu has a complete updated list of betting odds for this week’s Olympic golf.
Course: Kasumigaseki Country Club (East Course)
Yardage: 7,447
Par: 71
The course was redesigned by Tom Fazio and Logan Fazio and much of the redesign was done on the greens. The greens are still difficult, so putting is going to be a huge key this week. Water is in play on only two holes but there are 68 bunkers on the course. The course looks similar to what you might see at Colonial.

Odds Analysis
Collin Morikawa +675
I am not thrilled about the odds, but you can’t leave out Morikawa based on how well he is playing. He is so good in hitting greens in regulation that he is almost always in contention. He is second on the PGA Tour in GIR and he leads the Tour in strokes gained on approach. I would definitely prefer double-digit odds, but I still have to put Morikawa on the list.
Xander Schauffele +905
Is this the week when Xander finally lives up to his talent? He always seems to be in contention but he rarely wins. The field is not as good as it could be and perhaps the pressure is actually less on Xander this week playing in Tokyo. He also does really well in events with no cuts, winning twice with four second-place finishes. He also loves going to Tokyo and that helps his chances. ‘I love Tokyo, I love going there, I’ve been there probably 10 times now in my life, so I just like the culture and everything,” Schauffele said to the media. I’ll take Schauffele at these odds.
Justin Thomas +1000
Thomas is still one of the top players in the world, but this has not been a banner year for him. This is the perfect event for him to make 2021 worthwhile. He has been outstanding in no cut events in his career with nine of his 14 wins coming in no cut tournaments. Thomas is fifth on the PGA Tour in strokes gained on approach. He is also fifth in strokes gained tee to green.
Sungjae Im +2802
My value play this week is on Im who could avoid military service in South Korea by finishing in the top three. South Korea has a law that makes military service mandatory for men but an athlete becomes exempt by winning a medal at the Olympics. Im is very accurate off the tee and he is capable of making a lot of birdies. I’ll take a shot at Im at these odds.
