The Asian swing of the PGA Tour stops on Jeju Island in South Korea for the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges this week. Fresh off being named the PGA Tour player of the year, Brooks Koepka is among the favorites to win the second-ever event and should give defending champion Justin Thomas a run for his money. Thomas came off as the betting favorite at +550 odds. Marc Leishman looks to make it two wins in a row after taking the CIMB Classic by five shots with a 26-under total last week.

CJ Cup at Nine Bridges Matchup Picks
The course plays about 7,200 yards, which is on the short side but not short. Heavy hitters can pound away from the tee box with wide open fairways, but green play will be what wins or loses this event. The greens can be difficult to read because the natural surroundings are deceptive. Also, players will need to adjust their game to the elevation. The course sits about 2,000 feet above sea level and the thin air creates added distance. Using the right stick on approach shots is important. One thing that could affect scoring is the wind. It can get breezy on the course and when it does, the game gets a little tricky.
Louis Oosthuizen +105 vs. Billy Horschel
Oosthuizen doesn’t hurt himself on the course and he plays a steady, consistent game that’ll come in to play if the wind kicks up, which it most likely will at some point. He carded 25 birdies and 43 pars en route to a 20-under top-5 finish at the CIMB Classic last week in his tournament debut. He showed that a first-timer can have success and he’ll look to do that again when he tees it up at the CJ Cup for the first time.
Sungjae Im +120 vs. Byeong Hun An
The only thing that can slow Im are his nerves. The native South Korean calls Jeju Island home and lists The Club at Nine Bridges as his home course. If there is such an advantage, Im has it this weekend. Oh, he’s a pretty good golfer, too. He joined the field as one of the top three Korean players in the official world golf rankings and made his Tour debut at the Safeway Open a few weeks back by tying for fourth-place. If local knowledge is worth a few strokes on the scorecard, Im is a sweet pick for a nice payout.
Hideki Matsuyama -120 vs. Marc Leishman
If he’s right physically, Matsuyama should place high on the leaderboard. He skipped last week’s event with an undisclosed injury, but he’s listed on the published field for the CJ Cup, so we’re assuming he’s good to go. The top Japanese player on the Tour found his form at the end of last season with five straight top-15 finishes, including a share of fourth-place at the Dell Technologies Championship and the Tour Championship. Leishman is coming off a victory at last week’s CIMB Classic, but his game is far less suited for the Nine Bridges course than Matsuyama’s.
