PGA Tour Betting – Odds to Win ATT Pebble Beach Pro Am

The PGA Tour moves from the Arizona desert to the California coast with Pebble Beach Golf Links playing host to its namesake event, the ATT Pebble Beach Pro Am this week. With a full field of 156 pros and celebrity amateurs, the four-day event will be spread across three courses with the field attacking each one over the first three days. The cut takes place after 54 holes with the survivors competing for the title at majestic Pebble Beach on Sunday. Phil Mickelson hasn’t won on Tour since his record-tying fifth Pebble Beach title 12 months ago. Attacking one of his favorite layouts has moved Lefty up the odds board, but it’s Dustin Johnson who’s positioned as the betting favorite at online sportsbooks. Odds Analysis

Phil Mickelson +2206

You can’t talk about the Pebble Beach Pro Am without mentioning Mickelson. He’s been in a horrendous slump since winning here 12 months ago, but he regained some of the magic last week with a T3 at the Saudi International in a nicely timed outing. Now he enters an event that he’s won a record-tying five times with an additional two runner-up and two third-place showings. Lefty has talked about his comfort on poa annua greens, which is probably we he’s been so successful in this event. He’s climbed up the odds list based on past success, but Phil is worth a look after last week’s effort.

Jason Day +1803

This is a setup that plays into Day’s strengths making him a worthwhile investment. His ball trajectory is like radar finding the small greens and he’s never in a hurry, which plays well in the pro am format. He returned to action with a closing 69 at Torrey Pines to grab a share of 16th and his record at Pebble Beach is encouraging with eight top-15 showings in 10 starts. The only thing missing on his resume is a victory.

Max Homa +5000

Gaining valuable experience with a T10 at this event last year is a bonus, but Homa’s recent form is what makes him standout when glancing further down the odds board. Starting with a T5 in Japan in November he’s gone 5 for 5 with three top-10s. In his last two starts he has a T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open and T6 in Phoenix shooting a combined 22-under.

Dustin Johnson +600

I try to stay away from the favorites and look at better value picks in my analysis, but sometimes it’s hard to do. Johnson sits atop the odds board for reason and his recent play along with past results here are inspiring. He went back-to-back in 2009 and 2010 and has five additional top-5s in 12 starts. He opened 2020 with a T7 at the Sentry TOC and got greased up for this week with a runner-up showing in Saudi Arabia. There’s a lot to like about DJ’s game.

Scott Stallings +7500

Another trip down the odds board brings us to Stallings, who enters with progressively better results over the last three editions. A solo third last year came after a solo seventh in 2018 and a first time result of T14 the year before. He’s also 5 for 5 coming in, but he has just one top-20 in that sequence. Stallings is a longshot, but previous results here mean something.

Course: Pebble Beach Golf Links (host) – 6,816 yards, Par 72

In order to get 156 pros and their amateur partners through a full 18-hole day before darkness sets in requires three courses. World famous Pebble Beach Golf Links serves as host and those who make the cut will get two rounds on the iconic layout. Stretched out to 6,816 yards it’s the shortest track on Tour with wide open fairways that don’t pose a threat. Accuracy off the tee isn’t a problem, but approach shots have to find small greens that are surrounded by strategically placed bunkers. The Monterey Peninsula Course also plays less than 7,000 yards and is regarded as the easiest of the three. The track surrenders more eagles than the others and plays par 71. Spyglass Hill is the toughest of the three with additional length stretching it to 7,035 yards. Conditions are expected to be better than last year however, it will be cool with coastal winds always a factor on the host course.
