PGA Tour Betting – Odds to Win ZOZO Championship

There’s nothing like the inaugural ZOZO Championship to bring out the best golfers. And that’s exactly what we have this week when the PGA Tour remains in Asia. The star-studded field that includes FedExCup Champion Rory McIlroy, offshore sportsbook betting favorite Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and local star Hideki Matsuyama among others will tee it up at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club. Once again we have a limited field capped at 78 golfers and we don’t have to worry about cuts again this week with the entire field playing all 72 holes. Be sure to visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of betting odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Odds Analysis

Tony Finau +2775

A little tighter with the flat stick and Finau is looking at some victories. He placed T9 at the Shriners in his only start this season, leading the field in strokes gained: tee to green. He’s proven over the last few years he can hang with the big boys with six top-10s last season, including a fifth-place showing at The Masters. His driving distance and scoring average placed him among the best on Tour last season and he’s come so close to getting a victory that I feel it’s just a matter of time. The field is deep, but I like Finau’s chances if his putter is just a tad better.

Rory McIlroy +785

Everybody gets four rounds allowing players to make up ground if they have a bad score. That just didn’t happen with McIlroy last season and he’s just dialed in. If there was any doubt about a letdown after winning the pot of gold at the end of the FedExCup rainbow last year, forget about it after Brooks Koepka threw a zinger Rory’s way not long ago. Koepka isn’t here, but McIlroy will surely like to make a statement.

Hideki Matsuyama +950

The top-ranked player among the host nation’s contingent, Matsuyama is coming off a T3 at The CJ Cup and he’s one of a handful of players with course knowledge and experience. There is bound to be some pressure on his shoulders with an entire country watching his every move, but it can’t be any worse than having to sink an 18-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole for a tournament victory.

Adam Hadwin +4050

Hadwin enters with a ton of confidence after opening the season with a solo second at the Safeway Open followed by a T4 at the Shriners. He’s scored below 70 in seven rounds with the other being a 70 and went an absurd -36 in the two events. Putting has always been a strength and the approach game is catching up, if it’s not already there.

Patrick Reed +2050

Makes his season debut on the PGA Tour after closing with a flourish in the FedExCup Playoffs, which included a win at the Northern Trust; a T19 at the BMW Championship; and a T9 at the TOUR Championship. He’s been on fire since he stopped over thinking his game. He also had a nice run on the Euro Tour last month with a T15 at the KLM Open and a T4 at the BMW PGA Championship. Ball striking and accuracy have been his strengths and will serve him well on the Accordia track.

Course: Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club – 7,041 yards, Par 70

The field will attack the Championship Course at the club, which is one of two on the property. At just over 7,000 yards it’s small by Tour standards, but it isn’t your typical par 70 with three par-5s and five par-3s. We got a peek of the layout over the weekend at the Skins match and noticed little roll on the fairways. It was playing soft and to counter that we could see some drivers off the tee. It’s dangerous with the tight, tree-lined fairways, but it’s a strategy that will work as the long as the drives are on target. There aren’t many obstacles outside water on a few holes and overhanging trees. A conservative approach won’t penalize players since the layout isn’t easily overpowered.
