The 42nd Ryder Cup gets underway on September 28 with Team USA looking to defend its title against Team Europe at the Albatros Course of Le Golf National just outside Paris, France. The United States broke a three-match losing streak with a 17-11 win at Minnesota’s Hazeltine Golf Club in 2016, and they are favored at -155 at BookMaker.eu to repeat. However, Team USA hasn’t won in Europe since 1993, so the challenge will be a formidable one.
The Ryder Cup format consists of 28 total matches played over three days, each worth one point. There are no extra holes, meaning if the two sides are tied after 18, each side earns a half-point. Reaching 14½ points secures a victory, however, for the United States, getting a draw would allow them to retain the trophy. On top of the trophy lifting odds, BookMaker.eu also offers bets on the correct score, the top players from each side, the top rookies, and a plethora of other wagering options.

United States -155
Europe +125
The top players from Europe and the United States convene every two years to compete for the Ryder Cup in a match-play tournament spanning three days. Team Europe boasts the world’s No. 1 ranked player in Justin Rose, who has had a stellar Ryder Cup career. Playing in the last four events, Rose owns a lifetime 11-6-2 record in Ryder Cup play.
Team USA captain Jim Furyk has a loaded roster and it’s easy to see why the Americans are the favorite, despite playing on foreign soil and not winning in Europe since 1993. Team USA has a combined 31 major titles and features six of the top-10 ranked players in the world, including three of the top four. The collection of talent appears far superior then that of Team Europe, but there’s more to winning than just being good. Seven of the 12 golfers were also a part of Team USA’s victorious 2016 squad.
Tiger Woods is currently playing as well as anyone in the world, further strengthening the chances of a Team USA repeat. Woods regained his winning form by claiming his 80th career PGA victory at last week’s Tour Championship, ending a five-year drought, and he brings a strong singles match record to his first Ryder Cup since 2012. Tiger has played in 33 Ryder Cup matches, but is just 13-17 with three halves. However, he’s been nearly unbeatable in singles matches with a 6-1 record. It’s a good bet that Tiger claims the most points for Team USA.
Nine of the 12 Team USA members have won at least one major title and two that haven’t are playing at a high level. Bryson DeChambeau climbed from No. 21 to No. 8 in the world rankings following back-to-back victories in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and is +225 to be Team USA’s top rookie. Tony Finau has placed among the top-10 in 11 PGA events this season and is +350.
Not all is lost for the Europeans and beating the Americans is always motivation. Captain Thomas Bjorn will have his work cut out for him if he is to deliver a victory, but it appears as though he’s constructed a team with the perfect mix of talented newcomers and seasoned veterans. Jon Rahm, Thorbjorn Olesen, Alex Noren, Tyrrell Hatton and Tommy Fleetwood all make their Ryder Cup debuts.
With six victories on the European Tour in the last two years, including the 2018 HNA Open de France, which was played right here at Le Golf National, Noren has a good payout at +450 to be Team Europe’s top rookie. Rose is playing splendid golf and heads to Paris as the FedEx Cup Champion. It’s hard to imagine anyone other than Rose scoring the most points for the European team.
Ryder Cup Picks
Looking to avenge their defeat from two years ago, Team Europe will be amped, as will the home crowd. But the Americans have a stacked roster of players competing at a high level and Woods gives them an added bit of swagger that’s needed to hoist the cup on European soil for the first time since 1993.
