Rocket Mortgage Classic Golf Odds - Bet on PGA Tour

Rocket Mortgage Classic PGA Odds

He has only one PGA Tour victory since 2019, but that title came in this event last year in a playoff and now Rickie Fowler will go for a second when the field heads to Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic. With all Signature Events completed and the season’s final major still a few weeks away, some of the game’s bigger names are enjoying a week off. Still, the field is littered with top-flight players, including 10 of the top 50 in the OWGR. The highest ranked player and betting favorite on the opening odds, Tom Kim is back in action after a heart-breaking playoff loss last week at the Travelers Championship. Also last week second favorite Cameron Young became the 13th golfer in Tour history to card a sub-60 and aims to continue his run of strong play. Odds Analysis

Rickie Fowler +4000

It just so happens that I backed Fowler in this event last year and voila, he ended up winning to snap a four-year title drought. He was playing much better last season, though, and his odds were much shorter. However, he showed improvement last week with a T20 at the Travelers ending a skid that saw him finish outside the top 35 with two MCs over his five previous starts. And much like last year the field is watered down allowing Fowler to rekindle the fond memories from 12 months ago.

Alex Noren +2500

The course is a good fit for Noren and I think he can take advantage much like he did in his last two RMC starts. He went low last year with a T9 after carding four rounds of 68 or lower. In 2021 he closed with a 64 missing out on a three-man playoff by a swing. Noren was playing solid golf recording eight straight top 25s that included a pair of top 10s before two MCs in his last three starts.

Taylor Pendrith +3000

Quietly putting a solid season together, Pendrith has flown under the radar and boasts favorable odds in a tournament he’s had some success in. Two years ago he was tied for the lead after three rounds and eventually earned a share of second place behind Tony Finau’s record-setting effort. He also enters off a T23 at the Travelers, his seventh top 25 in his last nine starts. Included in that run is a win at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson and three additional finishes among the top 11.

Michael Thorbjornsen +4500

It’s a bit of a risky pick but Thorbjornsen got his feet wet with a respectable finish in his Tour debut last week at the Travelers. A thinned out lineup should make the former collegiate standout feel more comfortable than the course this week and Thorbjornsen didn’t back away carding middle rounds of 64 and 66 to finish T39. He’s a big hitter that can take advantage of the generous layout in Detroit to contend for a title.

Cameron Young +1600

Scoring a third round 59 last week didn’t quite get Young to the podium, but it did get him some recognition and he enters his second RMC as the second favorite. His first go-round in Detroit two years ago was highly successful finishing in a three-way tie for second. He overcame an opening 71, which on a course that routinely scores low could be fatal, to finish at 21-under. Again he made the most of his middle rounds going 63-65 to at least put a scare in eventual champion Tony Finau.

Course: Detroit Golf Club (North) – 7,370 yards, Par 72

The only host the tournament has ever known, the field will attack the North Course at Detroit Golf Club for a sixth consecutive year. More than a century old the property underwent an extensive overhaul ahead of the inaugural playing of the RMC in 2019 with additional yardage added prior to the 2022 tournament stretching the course to 7,370 yards. It is one of the flattest courses on Tour and the pros have navigated the property expertly with previous winners all finishing 18-under or better, including four at 23-under or better. The track has a good balance of short and long holes to test a player’s skill. However, it is straightforward with the distance average by Tour standards. Bunkers surround nearly every green and the rough is thick. Overall, though, scoring is easy making contenders of just about everyone in the field.
