After an exhilarating week at the Masters, at least for Dustin Johnson, the PGA Tour heads a few hours down the road to St. Simons Island, Georgia for The RSM Classic. While a number of high-profile players take the week off a few made the short journey making the field for this year’s edition one of the strongest. The unique two-course format has been in existence since 2015 with the field of up to 156 golfers playing the first two rounds on the Seaside and recently renovated Plantation courses. Those surviving the cut will play the weekend on the more familiar Seaside layout. Tournament favorite Webb Simpson is featured in several matchups, though at a steep price. There are a host of other matchups available on the board. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of matchup betting odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
The biggest item is the two course format. Each player gets 18 holes on what is considered the easier 7,058-yard, par-72 Plantation course over the first two days with a chance to make up ground or create some separation. This course got a facelift ahead of last year’s playing, though it did little to shrink scores. Those making the cut will play 54 holes on the coastal Seaside layout, which measures 7,005 yards and plays at par 70. It’s a short track with few hazards so hitting fairways and greens are more important than distance. The past five winners have all scored -17 or better, so the layout isn’t the most difficult. It was a good week at the Masters on my matchups with three winners, including a big plus-odds win backing Tiger Woods. I’ll do my best with the RSM to continue the mini hot streak.
The RSM Classic Matchup Picks
Henrik Norlander +121 vs. Adam Hadwin
I’m always looking for value picks in matchups and that’s tough in this event since few players are listed at plus-odds. Norlander is available at this price for a reason. He’s missed the cut in his last two starts and four of six this season. However, he’s done well at the RSM with a runner-up finish in 2017 and a top-5 last year. I’ve backed the Swede a few times and he’s paid off and I’m counting on a familiar course he’s played well on in the past bringing his game around.
Bernd Wiesberger -109 vs. Peter Malnati
He hasn’t finished high on the leaderboard in his PGA Tour starts but Wiesberger has finished the events. He played through the weekend in a 10th straight start worldwide at the Masters, though a Saturday 78 led to a disappointing 58th place finish. Still, making the cut is half the battle in matchups and Wiesberger has done that with regularity. He does have a couple of top-20s over his last five Euro Tour starts, including a T16 at last month’s Italian Open.
Tyrrell Hatton +145 vs. Webb Simpson
It’s hard to go against Simpson since he practically owns Sea Island Resort. He’s the leading money winner at the RSM despite never winning. A number of top finishes can do that. It’s not a huge risk backing Hatton, though. He missed the cut at the Masters, but he’s played four rounds in every non-major since March of 2019. Simpson can be had and Hatton is guy who can do it. And at his price he’s tough to pass on.
Sebastian Munoz -117 vs. Corey Conners
Munoz is another player who gets the most out of his starts. He’s 6 for 6 this season earning his third straight top-20 with a T19 at the Masters and he’s placed inside the top-27 in his last five starts. You can’t argue with his play at the RSM either. He scored 68 or better in all four rounds last year en route to a solo third, three shots off the pace.
Russell Henley -119 vs. Matthew Fitzpatrick
Henley is trending up and he returns to an event that yielded him a trio of top-10 finishes. He’s 8 for 8 since August with half those starts ending with a top-10 showing. And a return to his home state should make Henley feel right at home, since he basically is.
