The PGA Tour stays in the Aloha State and expands the field for the Sony Open in Hawaii, which gets underway Thursday from the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. We’re only two tournaments into the new season but for the first time we’ll have a full field of over 140 golfers, which means an expanded menu in the tournament matchup markets. About half the field from The Sentry made the short island hop, including outright betting favorite Hideki Matsuyama. Looking to become the first back-to-back winner in a decade, Matsuyama enters after setting a Tour 72-hole scoring record last week to win The Sentry at 35-under. He’s a big favorite in several matchups on the board. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of matchup betting odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
For those who played last week, the Waialae Country Club layout is much different than the one at Kapalua. At 7,044 yards, the course is short and will require players to club down. By contrast, the Plantation Course played at over 7,500 yards. The shorter yardage puts an emphasis on accuracy rather than distance, though it is an advantage to have played The Sentry with 17 of the previous 26 Sony Open champs having competed the week prior. Water comes into play on a few holes and there are a number of strategically placed bunkers, but for the most part it’s a manageable course with six of the past 10 winners scoring -20 or better. We’ve also witnessed a number of close finishes with the previous five tournaments decided by either a single shot or in a playoff.
Sony Open in Hawaii Matchup Picks
Harris English -109 vs. Mackenzie Hughes
He always seems to perform well in Hawai’i with one of his most recent victories taking place at The Sentry a few years ago. There were injuries and inconsistent play that hobbled him, but English closed 2024 on a high note with two top 10s among three top 15s in his last four starts. He’s also had success in this tournament with four top 10s on his resume including a T10 last year when he closed with a 64.
Keegan Bradley -104 vs. Maverick McNealy
The 2025 US Ryder Cup team captain better play solid golf in the events leading up to the showdown, and he’s done that with a win at the BMW Championship among five top 25s in his last six starts. He finished 21-under last week, which didn’t get him near the top of the leaderboard, but it continued his run of strong finishes. Bradley has been good in this event finishing among the top 12 three times in his last five starts including a playoff loss last year.
Luke Clanton +119 vs. Brian Harman
I’ll drop a few bucks on the world’s top ranked amateur at this price. He received an exemption into the field and a top 10 finish would earn him a spot in the American Express later in the year. He’s not immune to good finishes earning a share of second at the RSM Classic in November and with something to play for he could be a good investment.
Harry Hall -111 vs. Sepp Straka
Since winning the ISCO Championship in July for his first career title, Hall has been on a nice run with two top 10s among seven top 25s in 10 starts since then. He finished no worse than T14 in his last four starts with both top 10s – at the Shriners and last week’s T8. He made the cut in both starts here but placed outside the top 25 each time.
Austin Eckroat -117 vs. Denny McCarthy
I’m betting on Eckroat to continue his nice run of form. He followed his second win of 2024 at the World Wide Technology Championship with a T17 at the RSM Classic and T15 in his debut at Kapalua. And before that he had a pair of top 20s punctuated by a solo sixth at the Wyndham Championship. He also finished T12 at this event in 2023.
