Odds Analysis
Dustin Johnson +850
Johnson has won three times this season, but there is no question he is not playing as well as he did early in the season. He does have four career FedExCup playoff wins and this course should suit him, but I think he is overvalued at these odds.
Justin Thomas +1100
Thomas is the defending FedExCup champion and he is playing well, with three top 10 finishes in his last four starts. I think you can make a case he should be the favorite in this event and not Johnson.
Brooks Koepka +1200
I think people have underestimated Koepka all season, but perhaps that will change now that he has won two majors this year. The problem with taking him now is that the value is gone and he is now considered one of the favorites. He also has never finished in the top 40 in this event. I will pass.
Jason Day +1400
I give Day a decent chance to win this week. He has played well at Ridgewoord in the past with a tie for 2nd in 2004 and a tie for 5th in 2010. He has eight under par scores in 12 rounds on this course. I think he has some value at +1400.
Tiger Woods +1600
This will be the first FedExCup playoff appearance for Tiger since 2013. He has played Ridgewood once previously and finished tied for 12th in 2010. I have said before that I think Tiger will eventually win another tournament, but I don’t think it will be against a field with all of the other top players in the world, which is the case this week. I think he is overvalued at these odds.
Kevin Streelman +10000
I rarely put a huge longshot on this list because they usually don’t have a chance, but Streelman has played this course so well in the past I have to mention him. He has finished tied for 3rd and tied for 4th at Ridgewood.
Course: Ridgewood Country Club is a par 71 that measures 7,385 yards. It is one of the oldest golf clubs in the country, as it goes back to 1890. The course features a drivable par 4 that measures only 291 yards. This will be the fourth time the course will be hosting The Northern Trust.
