The final tournament of the regular season has the PGA Tour in Greensboro, North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship. The top 125 players in the FedExCup standings advance to the playoffs next week and a few golfers need a good showing to secure their spot while others look to improve their positioning. If this year’s tournament is anything like last year’s fans are in for a treat. Kevin Kisner emerged victorious on the second hole of a six-man playoff. Kisner is back to defend his title but he’s positioned behind co-favorites Shane Lowry and Sungjae Im. Webb Simpson never misses a chance to compete in this event. He’s owned Sedgefield Country Club with a win in 2011 and five straight finishes among the top-7. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of tournament matchup odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
One thing to note is the race for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Several players are on the bubble while others look to solidify or improve their ranking, much like Chesson Hadley last year. Entering the tournament at No. 132 in the standings, he carded a closing 62 moving to No. 125. Sedgefield Country Club is a short 7,131-yard, par-70 course that plays straightforward that’s been one of the easiest par 70s on Tour. It’s not going to scare the field but there are some roadblocks. Water is present on a number of holes while doglegs and small, undulating greens will be a test. The biggest stat this week is accuracy. Stay clean off the tee while avoiding the water and chances of scoring low improve. Five of the previous six winners scored 21-under or better with J.T. Poston (2019) and Henrik Stenson (2017) setting a tournament record of 258.
Wyndham Championship Matchup Picks
Webb Simpson +110 vs. Billy Horschel
It hasn’t been the best season for Simpson with a T8 at the RSM Classic in November his best finish, but there is something about this layout that he enjoys and a return could easily get him on the right path. The tournament’s all-time money winner has made the cut 12 straight times with a win in 2011. He had four consecutive podium finishes before ‘stumbling’ to a T7 last year. The North Carolina native is a beast on this track and he looks like a good bet at plus odds.
Tyrrell Hatton -115 vs. Adam Scott
Some players can take advantage of the watered down field and I’m counting on Hatton to be one of those guys. It hasn’t been the best season for the Brit but he’s been consistent showing signs of life recently on the other side of the Atlantic with a T24 at the Scottish Open and T11 at The Open Championship giving him nine top-25s in 16 starts.
Taylor Pendrith +100 vs. Harold Varner III
Pendrith makes his tournament debut so there’s no history to look at. But his recent play proves he can compete just about anywhere. He will have to overcome his closing 72 last week that dropped him from the top of the leaderboard into second place, but considering he’s dealt with injury and COVID already this year I don’t think that will be an issue. He’s gone T13 or better in each of his three starts since returning and also placed T13 at THE PLAYERS right before going on the shelf, so the game looks to be in a good place.
Kevin Streelman -110 vs. Scott Stallings
We’ve seen Streelman put together his best stretch of the season over the last month and a half giving me confidence in the veteran in this matchup. He was dealing at the Barbasol Championship going 67 or lower in all four rounds for solo second, his best finish of the season. He also has a history at Sedgefield with accuracy off the tee helping him secure a T7 last year when he led the field in GIR.
Will Zalatoris +110 vs. Sungjae Im
The highest ranked player in the field at No. 14 according to the OWGR, Zalatoris is an underdog at plus-odds in this matchup making him a better value pick. As a non-member his season ended here in 2021 despite carding four sub-70s. A sign that scores can go low here is that Zalatoris finished T29. Since the WGC Match Play in March he’s recorded six top-10s in 11 starts with runner-up finishes at the PGA Championship and U.S. Open. He closed with a 65 last week in Detroit to secure another top-20.
