It seems like the PGA Tour season just started, but the regular tournament portion of the slate concludes this week in Greensboro, North Carolina with the Wyndham Championship. The top 125 players in the FedExCup standings advance to the playoffs starting next week and a few golfers need a good showing this week to secure their spot. Webb Simpson will be competing in the Northern Trust next week, but he never misses a chance to compete in this event. It’s a homecoming for the North Carolina native and he’s been masterful on the Sedgefield Country Club layout with four straight podium finishes and eight career top-10s. So it’s no surprise that Simpson is the betting favorite for the third straight year. Visit BookMaker.eu for a complete list of tournament matchup odds when you’re ready to place a wager.

Need to Know
One thing to note is the race for the FedEx Cup playoffs. Several players are on the bubble while others look to solidify or improve their ranking, much like Jim Herman last year. Entering the tournament at No. 192 in the standings, his surprise victory vaulted him to 54th punching his playoff ticket. Sedgefield Country Club is a short 7,131-yard, par-70 course that plays straightforward. It’s been one of the easiest par 70s on Tour and last year’s 68.779 scoring average was in line with recent history. It’s not going to scare the field but there are some roadblocks. Water is present on a number of holes while doglegs and small, undulating greens will be a test. The biggest stat this week is accuracy. Stay clean off the tee while avoiding the water and chances of scoring low improve drastically.
Wyndham Championship Matchup Picks
Rickie Fowler -105 vs. Tommy Fleetwood
Fowler dropped out of the top-125 this week and currently sits at No. 130. It’s been a struggle for him this season but he’s never missed the playoff and should be motivated to get back in the picture. Now we’ve seen glimpses of the old Fowler and it looked like he was turning a corner a few weeks back with a top-10 in the PGA Championship and T11 in the Memorial. He hasn’t played poorly with one ugly round biting him in the backside. Sedgefield scores low and Fowler needs consistency to continue playing.
Louis Oosthuizen -110 vs. Hideki Matsuyama
How about entering the playoffs as the top seed without even winning a tournament? It could happen for Oosthuizen, who needs a solo second to take the lead into next week. And finishing second is something Oosthuizen is used to with four runner-up showings in his last eight starts, including in back to back majors. Just how good has the South African been? Well, a T17 at last week’s WGC was his 12th top-20 in 19 tournaments.
Will Zalatoris +115 vs. Brian Harman
Zalatoris got back on track last week with a T8 at TPC Southwind ending a four-tournament run that included a MC, WD and two finishes outside the top-50. It couldn’t have come at a better time either. Given his temporary Tour status, the only way Zalatoris can reach the playoff is by winning the Wyndham. No pressure kid. But Zalatoris has been immune to the pressure all season and at plus-odds I’ll back him in this matchup.
Jason Kokrak +105 vs. Brian Harman
I’m always looking for value in the matchups and Kokrak offers plenty at plus-odds. Not only is he having a fine season with a pair of wins among his 10 top-25s, Kokrak hasn’t been too shabby at Sedgefield either with three top-20s in his last four visits. In 2019 he finished sixth despite an opening even-par 70. Last year a second-round 63 helped him secure a T15.
Kevin Kisner +120 vs. Kevin Streelman
Kisner has been a tough one to figure out but when he’s on he’s always a threat. He ended a two-month rut with a T5 in the Travelers and followed that with a T8 in the Rocket Mortgage Classic. As quickly as the game came back it vanished with poor showings the last two outings. But for a guy with three top-10s in his last four visits to Sedgefield, it’s hard to pass on Kisner at his price.
