The last tournament of the regular season sends the PGA Tour to Greensboro, North Carolina, for this week’s Wyndham Championship. The top 125 players in the FedExCup standings will advance to the playoffs starting next week and several golfers on the bubble will attempt to earn the required number of points. After being listed as the betting favorite in each of the previous three editions, Webb Simpson has dropped off the pack allowing Sung-Jae Im and Shane Lowry to co-host the top of the odds board. Will Zalatoris, the highest ranked player in the field, is close behind. Finishing seventh or better in his last five starts Simpson is still getting some love from oddsmakers and shouldn’t be counted out. Kevin Kisner is back to defend the title he won in a dramatic six-man playoff last year. BookMaker.eu has a complete updated list of betting odds for the Wyndham Championship when you’re ready to make a wager.

Odds Analysis
Tyrrell Hatton +4000
Hatton has been selective in his tournaments with this being his first non-major start in the U.S. in three months. He’s put together a solid season to qualify for the playoffs, though he’s bagged only a pair of top-10s. I’m not sure it that’s good or bad, but I’m going with the former since the Brit always seems to be a threat. He closed with a flurry to grab a T11 at The Open last time out and placed among the top-10 at the PGA Championship in May.
Russell Henley +2500
Maybe last year’s disappointing finish will be the motivation Henley needs to reach the pinnacle. The outright leader after each of the first three rounds, Henley stumbled down the stretch with four bogeys over the final eight holes to finish a shot back. He got greased up for his return trip with a T10 in Detroit and played expertly over 54 holes last year. Henley also secured a top-10 in 2020 and has a scoring average of 66.5 over his last 12 rounds at Sedgefield.
Joohyung Kim +3300
He’s fairly new to the PGA Tour but Kim should be on everyone’s radar moving forward. And there is a little added incentive for the South Korean this week with a win making him eligible to compete in the FedExCup playoffs. Kim earned his Tour card with his seventh-place showing in Detroit closing with a 63. It was his second top-10 and fourth top-25 in eight Tour starts. And Kim is no stranger to winning golf tournaments with six international titles under his belt.
Taylor Pendrith +4000
One good thing about the Tour is there’s an immediate chance at redemption. And that’s the case for Pendrith, who struggled in last week’s closing round to settle for T2. I was initially hesitant to back him this week but realized he’s been through much more just to get back on the course missing several months with an injury and a bout with COVID, so playing golf is nothing. And despite his meltdown, Pendrith has been pretty good finishing T13 or better in each of his last three starts.
Webb Simpson +2200
He’s struggled recently and I would have liked a better price because of it, but Simpson has torn up this course over his career so there’s a reason he is where he is on the odds board. Simpson won here in 2011 and his T7 last year was his worst in five years after he collected four podium finishes prior to that. He made the cut in each of the last 12 playings finishing among the top-10 nine times and he’s gone five years without shooting over 70.
Course: Sedgefield Country Club – 7,131 yards, Par 70
Part of the rotation for the Greater Greensboro Open, Sedgefield enters its 15th year serving as host for the Wyndham Championship. It’s also the second straight playing on a Donald Ross designed layout for those who competed at Detroit Golf Club. Playing at 7,131 yards, the layout is short by Tour standards making driving distance a non-factor. A few years ago Henrik Stenson played the entire tournament without a driver in his bag. And proving his point, Stenson went and won the tournament with a record 22-under 258. Accuracy is critical. The field averages better than 80 percent GIR from the fairways with a significant decline when hitting from the rough. The course is no picnic, however. There are numerous water hazards, doglegs and small undulating greens that will test the patience of every player.
