The last tournament of the regular season sends the PGA Tour to Greensboro, North Carolina, for this week’s Wyndham Championship. The top 125 players in the FedExCup standings will advance to the playoffs starting next week and several golfers on the bubble will attempt to earn the required number of points. Three golfers at last year’s tournament jumped inside the top-125 led by defending champ Jim Herman, who went from No. 192 in the standings to 54th. Rickie Fowler has never failed to qualify for the playoffs and is currently the last man in at No. 125. He’ll have to do enough to continue his streak and could be a good bet at his current price. The favorite, though, is North Carolina native Webb Simpson, who tops the odds board for a third straight year. BookMaker.eu has a complete updated list of betting odds for the Wyndham Championship when you’re ready to make a wager.

Odds Analysis
Rickie Fowler +4500
I wonder if I went far enough down the odds board with Fowler. His game remains sketchy, though there were signs recently of it coming together. And there’s also some pressure on him to perform since he’s on the cusp of the playoffs. A positive sign is that he’s played the weekend in his last three starts. But he finished outside the top-30 in each one. He was on the verge with a T8 in the PGA Championship and T11 in the Memorial, but he’s just been unable to put four solid rounds together. At least he’s had a few good scores in each event and we should see a carryover soon.
Justin Rose +5000
Rose is another player who should be motivated to play well with the playoffs looming. Ranked No. 139, he needs a strong showing to advance, and like Fowler he’s shown glimpses of past form with a solo seventh at Augusta and a T8 in the PGA Championship. He played well last week until a closing 75 put him down the leaderboard. This is a course that should be to his liking since Rose has performed well on Donald Ross designs in the past.
Bubba Watson +5000
Comfortably inside the playoff cut line, Watson is looking to refine his game while slaying past Sedgefield demons. Doing both would be a huge boost of confidence heading into the playoffs. Watson has yet to win this season but he does have a pair of top-10s among his five top-25s in his last nine starts. He hasn’t played poorly at this joint, which is why I’m leaning toward Bubba. And his price isn’t bad either. He was even and 1-under in his last two trips to NC barely missing the cut on the low-scoring track.
Gary Woodland +4000
Woodland hasn’t played Sedgefield since 2012, but that shouldn’t be an issue for one of the best ball-strikers on Tour. After a pair of MCs, the 2018 U.S. Open champ looked strong in his last two starts with a T7 in the Barracuda Championship following a T11 in the 3M Open. His game appears to be rounding into form just in time for the playoffs.
Will Zalatoris +2500
Given his status as a temporary member on Tour there’s only one way Zalatoris can reach the playoffs: by winning the Wyndham Championship. That’s a lot of pressure on the young man, but he’s thrived under those circumstances all season and got greased up for a playoff charge with a T8 at last week’s WGC. He’s cooled off since a blistering start, but Zalatoris has been up to the challenge and I expect him to be in contention this week.
Course: Sedgefield Country Club – 7,131 yards, Par 70
Part of the rotation for the Greater Greensboro Open, Sedgefield enters its 14th year serving as host for the Wyndham Championship. Playing at 7,131 yards, the layout is short by Tour standards making driving distance a non-factor. A few years ago Henrik Stenson played the entire tournament without a driver in his bag. And proving his point, Stenson went and won the tournament with a record scored of 22-under 258. Accuracy is critical. The field averages better than 80 percent GIR from the fairways with a significant decline when hitting from the rough. The course is no picnic, however. There are numerous water hazards, doglegs and small undulating greens that will test the patience of every player.
