Webb Simpson and defending champion Henrik Stenson are the top betting choices to win this week’s Wyndham Championship in North Carolina. Most of the world’s top players are taking the week off after the PGA Championship, so this week’s tournament is wide open. I am coming off a 2-3 week with the matchups at the PGA Championship. Let’s look at the odds and matchups for this week’s Wyndham Championship.

Wyndham Championship Matchup Picks
Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. Sedgefield is a relatively easy course so birdies are going to be plentiful. The fairways are easy to hit and players usually pepper the greens. The past four winners shot at least 17-under par. Birdie or Better and driving accuracy are two stats to consider for this week.
Webb Simpson -115 vs. Henrik Stenson
I think the price on Simpson is too low considering Stenson is playing hurt. Simpson is the No. 2 all-time money winner in this event and he won in 2011. He also has 13 top 25 finishes this season. Stenson is the defending champ but he has had trouble with his left elbow and finished tied for 39th at Firestone and then missed the cut last week at the PGA. I will take Simpson in this matchup.
Rafa Cabrera-Bello -140 vs. Shane Lowry
You have to like the way that Cabrera-Bello finished last week at the PGA. He tied for 5th at Sedgefield when he played there in 2016. Lowry has played better of late, but I will ride the hot hand and go with RCB in this matchup.
Ollie Schniederjans +110 vs. Sergio Garcia
I think the wrong player is favored in this matchup. Ollie finished second in this event last year and he finished fifth in the Barracuda two weeks ago. Sergio has done nothing in months and I think he is overvalued. I will take the plus money in this matchup.
Joaquin Niemann -115 vs. Daniel Berger
It is definitely time to start paying attention to Neimann. He is second on the PGA Tour in GIR and in proximity and he is eighth in birdies or better. Berger can sometimes get hot for a tournament, but Niemann is the more consistent player right now.
Chris Kirk -145 vs. Keith Mitchell
Kirk is tied for 7th in proximity on the PGA Tour and he has three top 25 finishes in his last eight starts. He tied for 22nd in this tournament in 2012. I will lay the price and take Kirk in this matchup.
Kevin Tway -115 vs. Jamie Lovemark
Tway has been in fine form for most of this season with five top 25 finishes, including three top 10’s. I will lay the small price and take him in this matchup against Lovemark.
