Zurich Classic of New Orleans Matchup Picks

Before we get to the picks there are a few things to consider. This course in New Orleans is relatively easy, as last year Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith and Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown shot 27-under 261 before the playoff. Rounds 1 and 3 this year will be best ball, while alternate shot will be used for Rounds 2 and 4. The course is a par 72 that measures 7,425 yards. The course seems to be one where very good long iron players do well, as driver is simply not a very good option on some holes.

Rose & Stenson -160 vs. Reed & Cantlay

Rose & Stenson actually missed the cut in this event a year ago. I can’t see that happening again, as both are playing well. This is also a play against Reed, who I just can’t see being focused after winning the Masters.

Thomas & Cauley -115 vs. Reed & Cantlay

I am going with Thomas & Cauley in this matchup against Reed & Cantlay. Thomas is one of the top players in the world and Cauley is playing well. This team tied for 5th in this event a year ago.

Kisner & Brown +100 vs. Fleetwood & Paisley

I like the team of Kisner & Brown, as they nearly won this event a year ago before losing in a playoff. Kisner is playing well, but Brown has struggled this season. Fleetwood is having a good season, but Paisley really hasn’t done anything of note. I will take Kisner & Brown in this matchup.

Finau & Summerhays -145 vs. Reavie & Glover
This play is based on line movement, as the team of Finau & Summerhays is getting some action in terms of winning the event. Finau is a bomber while Summerhays is good around the greens so they should be a good combination. I will lay the price in this matchup.

Walker & O’Hair +115 vs. Garcia & Cabrera-Bello

A lot of people think the team of Garcia & Cabrera-Bello will do well in this event, but I am not so sure. Both players have struggled a bit lately and in this matchup they are going against a hot duo in O’Hair and Walker. O’Hair tied for 2nd last week and Walker was fourth. I will take the plus money in this matchup.
