Minnesota Wild
The Wild were 7-3 in their first 10 games of the season and then hosted the Islanders on Sunday. The Wild are 4-2 on the road this season. Minnesota is averaging 3.1 goals per game which is 12th in the league. They are 20th on the power play at 18.8%. They are giving up 3.4 goals per game which is one of the worst marks in the league at 26th in the NHL. They are just 24th on the penalty kill at 75%.
Kirill Kaprizov leads the team with 10 points, while Cam Talbot leads the team in goal with 7 wins and a goals against average just under three.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes come into this game at 1-10-1 but as noted earlier, they picked up their first win of the season on Saturday, beating Seattle 5-4. Much of the trouble for Arizona has come on the road where they are 0-7-1. They have played just four times at home and gone 1-3.
The Coyotes have some really bad numbers, as they are last in the NHL scoring just 1.3 goals per game. They are last on the power play at 7.4%. They are also last in goals allowed, giving up four per game. They are last on the penalty kill at 63.9%.
Shayne Gostisbehere leads the team with 9 points while goaltender Scott Wedgewood leads the team with one win and his goals against average is 2.03.
Minnesota vs. Arizona NHL Pick
The Coyotes have some awful numbers but the team played better on Saturday night and now that they have their first win of the season they could go on a little run. I don’t know that I want to get too excited about taking a team with such pathetic offensive and defensive numbers, but this is a good spot for Arizona. The Wild are beginning a road trip and I am not totally sold on Minnesota. Their overall statistics are nothing special and I think the Wild are fortunate to have such a good record. I lean a bit toward the Coyotes in this game but I think the better choice is to play the total. Minnesota has been giving up a lot of goals and I expect Arizona to start producing more goals, especially at home. I will go over the total in this contest.
