The St. Louis Blues have a rich although star-crossed history since their berth in 1967 as part of the NHL’s “Second Six” and Great Expansion. The Blues made the Stanley Cup Final in each of their first three seasons as champions of the expansion West Division. And they were swept all three times. And since their last appearance against the Boston Bruins in 1970 the Blues have never made it back. But now those 49 years of frustration could be ending Sunday night. St. Louis will host the Bruins in game six on home ice at the Enterprise Center. With a win the Blues can win their first ever Stanley Cup championship.

Odds Analysis
Live betting has the potential to be incredibly fluid for this game. After jumping all over the Bruins in the first two games of this series the betting public is likely going to be swayed by the Blues rendezvous with destiny. At the same time live betting could quickly flow back to the Bruins as the original favorite in the series. Ebb and flow are highly likely and live wagering action could offer potentially big bargains on both sides throughout the evening.
Current Form
St. Louis won game five at Boston by a score of 2-1 to take a 3-2 lead in this best of seven series. If Boston wins this sixth game the series will shift back to Boston for a seventh and deciding game on Wednesday night.
Controversy and Rage
St. Louis got the eventual game winning goal in game five immediately after the refs missed a slew foot tripping call in the Boston zone. David Perron lit the lamp immediately after the missed call to stake St. Louis to a 2-0 lead as chaos ensued. Bruins fans littered the ice with garbage and team president Cam Neely went nuts in his sky box, throwing a water bottle in a fit of rage. The Bruins failed to fully refocus after the call. There were also some alleged head shots against Boston players that the Bruins felt the refs missed. But the fact remains that the Blues outplayed Boston much of the game.
Blues Neutralize Killer B’s
Among the most interesting aspects of this series is how St. Louis has been so effective at taking out the Bruins best players for long periods of time. Blues head coach Craig Berube has had the better of it in his matchup with Boston head coach Bruce Cassidy. What was a dominant and powerful Boston team for the first three rounds of the playoffs has been missing for much of the Stanley Cup Final.
Bad Blues Rap
St. Louis plays a heavy brand of hockey that is punishing to opponents. However, their bruising and physical play is done with intelligence. Consider that the Blues are the least penalized team in the playoffs. Boston is used to bullying its opponents and has become frustrated at how the Blues take it to them. As the series has progressed the Blues have worn down the Bruins physically. They may be the only team in the NHL capable of doing so.
