The Vegas Golden Knights stunned the sporting world last year when as a first-year expansion team they went on to win the Western Conference. It was natural that the Golden Knights would drop back a bit this year but they are currently the third and last playoff team in the Pacific Division. Vegas has not scored goals at the same rate as last year and that has proven to be a drag on their wagering value. The Boston Bruins are one of the hottest teams on the NHL board and have taken second place over the Toronto Maple Leafs in the Atlantic Division.

Odds Analysis
Live betting action will be hot and heavy on this one. Boston is an “Original Six” franchise that has had a large and passionate fan base going back several generations. The fact that the Bruins have been perennial contenders and one of the hottest teams on the board will further draw action their way. Vegas won over the entire city when they won the Western Conference last year and continues to draw plenty of betting support as a team in playoff position.
Current Form
Vegas has split their last six games to now stand at 32-24-3-1 which is good for third place in the Atlantic Division. The Golden Knights have gone over the total in six of their last eight games. At T-Mobile Arena Vegas is 17-9-2-1.
Boston has been making gamblers very happy with seven payouts in their last eight games. The B’s have also gone over the total in four of their last six games. Boston now stands at 34-17-6-2 and has gone over the total in just 23 of their 59 games on the season. One point of concern is Boston’s road record of 13-10-4-1.
Matchup Metrics
Boston has NHL metrics of 18th for goal scoring but second for the power play. On the back end the Bruins rank second for goals against and 15th for the penalty kill.
Vegas ranks 17th in the NHL for goal scoring and a disappointing 20th for the power play. Defensively the Golden Knights rank ninth for goals against and fifth for the penalty kill.
Goaltending Report
The veteran Boston tandem of Tuukka Rask and Jaroslav Halak has become one of the top assets in the NHL. Rask has a record of 19-8-4 with a 2.37 goals against average and a save percentage of .920 with two shutouts. Halak has a record of 15-9-4 with a 2.35 goals against average and a save percentage of .923 with four shutouts.
Vegas goaltender Marc Andre Fleury posted a .927 save percentage last year but this season is at .908. Overall Fleury is 29-18-4 with a 2.61 goals against average but does have six shutouts. Backup Malcolm Subban has a record of 3-5 with a 2.72 goals against average and .911 save percentage. Fleury may be worn down by carrying such a heavy workload.
Players to Watch
Boston is led by left wing David Pastrnak’s 31 goals and 35 assists. Vegas is led by center Jonathan Marchessault and his 19 goals. Right wing Alex Tuch has powered to 16 goals, 26 assists and a plus nine for VGK.
