In order to win a Stanley Cup championship a team must overcome adversity and setbacks along the way. There will be bad bounces, breaks and officiating mistakes. The championship teams will rise to the occasion with resiliency, determination, and resourcefulness to kill off the karma. The playoff teams that head to the golf links in failure whine, cry, and make excuses about luck not going their way. Such is the fork in the road that the New York Islanders now face. After a tough loss in game two the Islanders complained incessantly about how unfair it was. They moaned about being the better team that should have won. Instead they down 0-2 to an injury riddled but true believing Carolina Hurricanes team.

Odds Analysis
The Islanders are the far more public and popular team between these two clubs and will get a good share of the live betting action based on how they did outplay the Canes in the second game. Another factor in the Isles favor is goaltender Robin Lehner’s stellar play. Gamblers are also concerned about the injury to Carolina’s top goaltender Petr Mrazek that has put his status at day to day. On the other hand, Carolina is riding a wave and will be playing in front of one of the most raucous crowds that can be found in all the NHL. As such, there will be considerable live betting money that flows their way based on that.
Series Update
Carolina has put the clamps on the Islanders with wins of 1-0 in a game one overtime thriller and 2-1 in game two. Islanders head coach Barry Trotz bitterly stated that Carolina was the better team for only a minute and five seconds of game two. What Trotz was specifically referring to was the first 1:05 of the third period in which Warren Foegele and Nino Niederreiter scored goals to spring the upset. Carolina had been flat and dominated by an Islanders team that had carried the play up to that point. In the third period the Isles had a goal waived off after video review and hit the goal post on multiple occasions which added to their need for the crying towel.
ATS Trends
The Islanders have been a solid betting value on the road with eight payouts in their last 11 games on enemy ice. Additionally, NYI won both of its previous road playoff games at the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. New York has gone under the total in seven of their last nine games away from home.
Balanced against that is the strong betting value shown by the Hurricanes at PNC Arena. In fact, Carolina has won 13 of their last 17 games on home ice including all three of their previous home playoff games against the Washington Capitals. Three of the Canes last four home games went under the total.
Head to Head
The Islanders have taken over management of the cashier’s cage at PNC Arena with nine wins in their last 12 visits against the Hurricanes. The last six meetings between these teams at Carolina have failed to clear the total.
Islanders vs. Hurricanes Free NHL Live Betting Odds Pick
Robin Lehner has a .952 save percentage in the playoffs so far for New York. That should be the difference here. Plus, it will actually be good for the Islanders to get away from home and reset this series.
