Five of the eight playoff spots in the Eastern Conference have been locked up. Boston, Toronto, Carolina, New Jersey, and the New York Rangers have assured themselves of a spot in the postseason. Tampa Bay will almost certainly return to the playoffs barring an absolute collapse, leaving just two postseason berths. The New York Islanders probably have one of those spots taken since they are five points ahead of the current No. 8 seed Pittsburgh Penguins with six games to play, but the Penguins have just a one-point lead over the Florida Panthers. Buffalo, Ottawa, and Washington are all still in the mix too, so it will be interesting to watch the Eastern Conference race unfold.
In the Western Conference, things are more straightforward. Even though no team has locked up a playoff spot yet, the top six teams in the conference are all shoo-ins. Essentially, there are four teams fighting for the final two playoff berths. Currently, the Seattle Kraken are in the best shape to make the postseason as they are sitting on 88 points with nine games left to play, but Winnipeg has 85 points, Calgary has 83 points, and Nashville has 82 points. The Jets and Flames each have just seven games left on their schedules, but the Predators have nine games remaining too.

NHL Parlay Picks for Saturday, April 1, 2023
New Jersey Devils at Chicago Blackhawks
Anaheim Ducks at Edmonton Oilers (-1.5)
The Chicago Blackhawks have lost six straight games. They gave up on their season a little over a month ago, and they are hoping to win the Connor Bedard Sweepstakes. Jonathan Toews hasn’t taken the ice in two months, and the Blackhawks shut down Philipp Kurashev for the season on Tuesday. Max Domi and Patrick Kane were traded away, so the top scorer that’s still on the roster is Taylor Raddysh with 33 points in 74 games.
New Jersey should have little trouble taking down Chicago in the Windy City. The Devils can still close the gap on the Carolina Hurricanes in the Metropolitan Division, and that would give them a much easier first-round matchup than the New York Rangers. They have struggled a bit in recent weeks, so this is a nice get-right game for the Devils.
We’re going to roll with Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers for the second leg of this parlay. McDavid is posting absurd numbers, and his play has turned Edmonton into a playoff team once more. The Oilers have an 8-1-1 record in their last ten games, and they have scored at least four goals in each of their last seven victories.
As for Anaheim, the Ducks have lost five games in a row. Additionally, they have the worst goal differential in the NHL by a mile at -112, as the goaltending has been abysmal. Anaheim lost to Edmonton 6-2 at home in their last meeting, so I’ll take the Oilers on the puck line at home.
