The Chicago Blackhawks pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent NHL history on Wednesday night. Chicago was a record underdog per the NHL betting odds a few nights ago when they took on the Toronto Maple Leafs, and they were duly hammered. They have been big underdogs since that point due to a mixture of injuries and opportunity, but they did show some heart with their win over the Dallas Stars. Dallas was a whopping -490 favorite by the hockey betting line and had a 3-0 lead midway through the game. However, the Stars didn’t score again, while the Blackhawks lit the lamp four times in the next 15 minutes and held on to win.

NHL Parlay Picks for Saturday, February 25, 2023
New York Rangers at Washington Capitals
Alexander Ovechkin is back with the Washington Capitals after missing the last week-plus following the death of his father. Ovechkin left the nation’s capital on Valentine’s Day to return to Russia, and the Capitals have not been the same without him. Washington has lost four straight games to fall out of the playoff race.
The good news for the Caps is that they aren’t THAT far out of the playoff picture. They are two points behind the Florida Panthers for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, and they are fighting the Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings, and Buffalo Sabres for a postseason berth.
Ovechkin may or may not play on Thursday night against Anaheim, but he is very much expected to take the ice against the New York Rangers in this game. In the only other game between these teams on the season, the Caps cruised to a 4-0 win although Ovechkin failed to register a point.
Meanwhile, the New York Rangers are a different team than we have seen in the recent past. They are more offensive focused than usual because Igor Shesterkin hasn’t been great in net, so they are dependent on Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad to make things happen with the puck. This power play has been very good with Panarin and Adam Fox setting up teammates often, and 17 of Zibanejad’s 30 goals have come on the man advantage.
This will be a tough spot for the Rangers as the home crowd will be roaring with Ovechkin back on the ice. He leads Washington with 32 goals and 54 points, and he is now within striking distance of Wayne Gretzky when it comes to the most career goals scored.
Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens
The two worst teams in the Atlantic Division have little chance to make the postseason and are mainly playing for pride and crossing their fingers that they can land wunderkid Conner Bedard and turn around their franchise fortunes. Ottawa will be even worse the rest of the year too, as the Sens just traded Nikita Zaitsev to Chicago for a second-round pick and a fourth-round pick in 2026.
This defense is simply not good. Former Pittsburgh goaltender Cam Talbot is the main goaltender, and he is 12-13-1 with a 2.90 GAA and a .905 save percentage. He was activated off injured reserve on Tuesday after a month out, and this could be his first game since January 25, 2023.
As for Montreal, the Canadiens are extremely limited on both offense and defense. They only have three players with more than 25 points, and only four players have at least 10 goals. Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield have had decent seasons, but everyone else has really struggled.
Long-time goaltender Carey Price has yet to play this season as he is dealing with major knee injuries. Instead, Jake Allen and Sam Montembeault have split time in net. Allen and Montembeault have both struggled mightily, highlighting some of Montreal’s problems.
