We are nearing the end of the NHL regular season. Teams are hitting the 70 games played mark, so most days will see a team either lock up a spot in the postseason or be eliminated from playoff contention going forward. That will have a big impact on a team’s motivation, and in turn, we will see some lofty NHL betting odds. The Chicago Blackhawks were already the biggest underdog in NHL history earlier this season, and teams like Anaheim, Columbus, and San Jose could contend for that dubious honor.

NHL Parlay Picks for Saturday, March 18, 2023
Philadelphia Flyers +1.5 vs. Carolina Hurricanes
Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators
The Carolina Hurricanes may be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, but they just sustained a devastating loss. Andrei Svechnikov is out for the season with a torn ACL, and that’s a serious blow to their title chances. Svechnikov was the third leading scorer on the team with 23 goals and 55 points, and he was one of their most physical players too. It will be hard to replace his tenacity, but the team will try to do just that.
Philadelphia will not be in the postseason. The Flyers have lost four straight games, and they have been in a tailspin over the last month-plus. They were 22-22-9 on February 9, but they have just two wins in their last 14 games. It seems risky to back the Flyers on the puck line given these facts, but the Hurricanes don’t score a lot of goals. Philly is dealing with some injuries, yet the Flyers are still competitive.
My other NHL Parlay Pick for Saturday involves the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto has lost two in a row, but the Maple Leafs were 6-1-1 in eight games prior to that point. Both the losses came by one goal, and although the Maple Leafs are playing on the road, they do have a solid record whenever they plan in Canada.
It’s a shame that Ryan O’Reilly is on injured reserve with a broken finger, and the loss of Jake Muzzin hurts too. However, Toronto still has a ton of talent o this roster, and three different players already have 30+ goals. John Tavares, Auston Matthews, and William Nylander all reached that plateau, and Mitch Marner could get there by the end of the season even though he is already the leading point scoerer on the team.
Ottawa looked like a legit playoff contender until recently when the Senators dropped three straight games. They are now eight points outside the playoff race, and it looks like the Senators will miss the postseason for the sixth consecutive year. The Sens are dealing with injuries to their top two goaltenders, and that’s a major issue since third-string goaltender Mads Sogaard has an .888 save percentage and 3.29 GAA, and he has given up four goals in each of his four starts this month.
