Anytime a guy has won 10 fights in a row, we need to be paying attention. That’s the case with Calvin Kattar, whose win streak includes two fights under the UFC banner. Still, if “The Boston Finisher” wants to make his mark at featherweight, he’s got to navigate a division that’s brimming with dangerous up-and-comers - like his opponent this Saturday at UFC 223.

Kattar meets Renato “Moicano” Carneiro, an 11-1 Brazilian who already owns a win over Jeremy Stephens and went toe-to-toe with Brian Ortega. In just four UFC fights, Moicano is already a proven commodity at featherweight, currently residing at No. 10 in the rankings. Plus, his hard-nosed striking and top-notch BJJ game is a ton of fun to watch.

Even with Moicano’s impressive UFC appearances, he’s a clear underdog going into his main card matchup. That says a lot about Kattar’s potential - but is it something you should be laying your money on? Let’s check the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu and break down your best betting options.

Matchup Breakdown
Kattar is coming off a solid upset of the previously undefeated Shane Burgos, coming through as a +165 ‘dog. That match showed off his upper-echelon striking, where the southpaw used a piercing jab to bruise up his opponent’s face and power punches to seal the deal for a late finish.

At 29 years old, Kattar spent 11 years on the regional scene, where he held the CES championship. That experience allowed him to enter the UFC as a well-rounded fighter. On the feet, he possesses a diverse striking arsenal, and he makes sure to mix up his shot selection, landing kicks and punches at all three levels. While not a one-hitter quitter, Kattar has sown solid KO power in the past.

A BJJ blue belt, Kattar does pose a threat with his submissions, but it would never be his first choice of attack. He is a sound wrestler both offensively and defensively, and is smart enough to resort to grappling if the striking exchanges aren’t going so well.

You might look at Moicano’s resume and assume that he’s a submission specialist based on the fact that he has zero KOs and five SUBs. That assumption would be extremely far from the truth. Against Jeremy Stephens, Carneiro went toe-to-toe with one of the division’s more renowned strikers, holding his ground and doing enough damage to take a close win.

Anyone who can beat Jeremy Stephens on the feet has to be respected, and Moicano also has a black belt in BJJ as well. While Ortega was able to tap him with the quickness when they went to the mat, “T-City” is just on another level when it comes to grappling.

UFC Odds Pick: Moicano to win at +111
We’re leaning towards Moicano at these odds. While Kattar’s kickboxing is a real threat, Moicano’s ability to pressure the pocket and throw heavy hands will be the story of the fight. In what looks like a 50-50 fight, we’re taking the underdog all day.
