UFC 246 Odds - Conor McGregor Holds as a Big Favorite over Cowboy

Lightweight superstar Conor McGregor (21-4, 18 KOs, 1 SUB) will meet veteran Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (36-13, 10 KOs, 17 SUBs) at UFC 246 on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET.

“The Notorious” one is coming back to the octagon. And any time a McGregor fight is announced (or even teased), you can expect online oddsmakers to release some money lines.

After the official announcement that the Irish superstar would be meeting Cowboy Cerrone at UFC 246, it took less than 24 hours for the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu to release their official opening money lines. To nobody’s surprise, McGregor opened as a big favorite with a -235 money line. Cowboy opened at +150 on the comeback.

Early action has been on McGregor, driving Cowboy’s line up past 2-1 odds. McGregor’s price has remained largely the same, moving slightly down to -245 in just a few weeks. We imagine the prices to hover around here for a while, though it wouldn’t be surprised to see McGregor close near -300 and Cerrone around +250.

We’ll save our predictions for fight week, but if you were going to bet McGregor, now’s the time to do it. He should have a flood of late supporters leading up to fight night, and nobody wants to pay more to win. If you think Cowboy pulls off the upset, we’d strike at any point above +230.

The UFC odds at BookMaker.eu updates their lines every day, and you’ll see a host of prop bets slowly fill out the online sportsbook in the coming weeks. Definitely keep your eye on over/under and fight goes/doesn’t go to decision bets, as those are the most popular wagers after picking the winner. We’ll also make sure to keep you posted on the victory bets as well - we’re particularly interested to see what the price will be on McGregor by TKO.

We can see why McGregor is such a big favorite here in the UFC online sportsbook. Cerrone is not the fighter he used to be, and he’s been absolutely demolished in his past two fights. Tony Ferguson threw him into a blender for two rounds before forcing a doctor stoppage, and Justin Gaethje blasted him into space in just one round.

In Cowboy’s last six losses, he’s been brutally knocked out in four of them. That’s not good against a guy known to drop dudes with a single punch. Of course, there’s the fact that this fight happens at 170, where Cerrone might have some more durability. McGregor has only fought twice at the weight, and in both of them he showed signs of fatigue.

Still, most people are writing this off as a tuneup fight for McGregor. It’s been over three years since he last hand his raised, losing a TKO in a boxing match to Floyd Mayweather and famously getting stomped by Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. He’s as rich as it gets, and the guy has been partying a lot outside the cage. Still, he’s just 31 years old and hasn’t taken too much damage inside the cage - bettors have to assume that he’ll be in top shape come fight time.
