Pantoja came into the UFC with a record of 16-2 and he has nine wins and three losses in the UFC. In his last six fights, he has four wins and two losses. He defeated Matt Schnell by KO, Manel Kape by unanimous decision, Brandon Royval by rear-naked choke submission, and Alex Perez by neck crank submission; while losing to Deiveson Figueiredo by unanimous decision and Askar Askarov by unanimous decision. Pantoja has been a pro since 2007 and he has eight wins by TKO/KO and 10 by submission. He has 10 first round finishes.

Pantoja said this to ufc.com about his upcoming fight against Moreno, “I know Moreno is a tough guy. My two fights against him were never easy; they may look easy, but they were never easy. The fight on TUF, that don’t count because it’s a different tournament. I’m going to face a very tough guy, very strong guy, good grappling. I know we’re going to be Fight of the Night. I think the thing that he’s improved most is his mind. Obviously, he boxes more, he does more, but his mind is different, and I can see that, and that’s where we’re going to crash, me and him, because I have a good mind, too. UFC Picks

I have to admit that I am a little surprised at the UFC odds for this fight. Why is Moreno a 2-1 favorite in this fight? These two fighters have very similar records and their skillsets are similar. It is also worth noting that when these two fought about five years ago it was Pantoja winning a unanimous decision. I don’t see that much has changed since that time, as both are still tough as nails and hard to finish. I think taking Pantoja at the plus price is worth a shot and I also think taking the rounds over is the way to go. I expect the rounds option to be 3.5 with the over at about a UFC betting price of -175 and that is the option I’ll take.
