Adesanya said this to lowkickmma.com about his upcoming fight against Strickland, “Threat meter, (Sean) Strickland?” To be honest, skills wise, I’ll give him a three. But a man with nothing to lose and everything to gain is a dangerous man. So that’s why I take him seriously and that’s why I’ve put the work in this camp. I’ve been grinding. Even right now, I’m a little bit tired. But I say skills-wise, [we’re] not even close… I’m going to show him that I’m the dangerous man.”

UFC Picks
Is there really any doubt as to who should win this fight? Adesanya is the superior fighter and it makes sense he is a big favorite in this fight. I think Adesanya will win, but I am not laying 6-1 on anyone. I don’t see any realistic path of victory for Strickland and I am not laying the price on Adesanya, so that means looking at the rounds and props. Neither of these two fighters has great finishing power so the most likely scenario has this one going the distance. Before the last two fights against Pereira that ended in knockout, Adesanya had won five of his last seven by decision. Strickland had gone to a decision in five of his last seven fights. The price on the rounds at 4.5 is basically a pick, so oddsmakers think this one has a chance to go the distance. I’ll play the rounds to go under the total.
