Zak Cummings (21-5, 6-2 UFC)
Cummings came into the UFC with a record of 15-3 and has six wins and two losses in the UFC. He defeated Ben Alloway by submission, Yan Cabral by unanimous decision, Dominique Steele by TKO, Nicolas Dalby by unanimous decision, Alexander Yakovlev by submission, and Nathan Coy by technical submission, while losing to Gunnar Nelson by submission and Santiago Ponzinibbio by unanimous decision. Cummings has been a pro since 2007 and has 11 wins by submission and five by TKO/KO. He has 10 first round finishes.
Zak Cummings said this to bloodyelbow.com about his upcoming fight with Prazeres, “I feel like he’s normally the stronger bully-type fighter at 155. He’s always had to deal with the reach disadvantage, but I feel like he’s always been the more powerful guy and the bully with his jiu jitsu style and his striking. I just don’t see him being able to present that threat at all with me. Maybe he can with some smaller welterweights, but it’s a big jump from lightweight to welterweight. When I watch his style, it’s a very power jiu jitsu style, a fellow BJJ black belt. I don’t think he’s really slick. Especially in an MMA fight, I just don’t see his game working against my body-type.”
Michel Prazeres (24-2, 8-2 UFC)
Prazeres came into the UFC with a record of 16-0 and he has eight wins and two losses in the UFC. He defeated Jesse Ronson by split decision, Mairbek Taisumov by unanimous decision, Valmir Lazaro by split decision, J.C. Cottrell by unanimous decision, Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision, Josh Burkman by submission, Mads Burnell by submission and Desmond Green by unanimous decision, while losing to Paulo Thiago by unanimous decision and Kevin Lee by unanimous decision. Prazeres has been a pro since 2000 and has 10 wins by submission and one by TKO. He has nine first round finishes.
