Darren Elkins (24-5, 14-4 UFC)
Elkins came into the UFC with a record of 10-1 and he has 14 wins and four losses in the UFC. In his last four fights he defeated Godofredo Pepey by unanimous decision, Mirsad Bektic by KO, Dennis Bermudez by split decision, and Michael Johnson by submission. Elkins has been a pro since 2007 and has eight wins by TKO/KO and four by submission. He is on six-fight winning streak and has nine first round finishes.
Alexander Volkanovski (17-1, 4-0 UFC)
Volkanovski came into the UFC with a record of 13-1 and he has four wins in the UFC. He defeated Yusuke Kasuya by TKO, Mizuto Hirota by unanimous decision, Shane Young by unanimous decision, and Jeremy Kennedy by TKO. Volkanovski has been a pro since 2012 and has 10 wins by TKO/KO and three by submission. He has seven first round finishes.
Volkanovski said this to flocombat.com about his upcoming fight with Elkins, “I train too hard; I’m known for grinding people out just like him, but I’m actually doing the damage rather than eating the damage. I just think that if he’s as durable as he seems, it’s just going to be three rounds of absolute punishment. The problem is, I think I’m going to be putting that same punishment, but I will not tire and I don’t mean this as any disrespect, but I just think that I’m a bad matchup for him. I was pushing for someone in the top 15 and wanted to fight in the U.S. This is a massive fight, and I think if I go out there and do my thing and finish in crazy fashion, this could really set me in the top-10 rankings.”

UFC Predictions
Volkanovski is a -345 favorite in this fight and it is hard to argue, as he is unbeaten in the UFC. The price is too high for me, so I will just take the rounds to go under, as Elkins and Volkanovski have combined for 16 first round finishes.
