UFC Fight Night 141 - Jingliang vs. Zawada Predictions

Chinese welterweight Li Jingliang (15-5, 5 KOs, 5 SUBs) will meet Germany’s David Zawada (16-4, 11 KOs, 3 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

China’s Li Jingliang might not have the goods to become a top welterweight, but he’s been a solid fighter since joining the UFC in 2014. Plus, he’s one of the country’s most recognizable names, and his aggressive style is always good for pumping up a crowd - especially when he’s fighting on his native soil.

This Saturday, Jingliang meets late-notice replacement David Zawada in Beijing, with the German replacing Brazil’s Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos on a few weeks notice. It’s probably a little disappointing for Li, who could’ve gotten some shine had he snapped dos Santos’ six-fight win streak. The consolation is that this is a much more winnable fight for the Chinese fighter.

Both guys are the type that love to swing for the fences, which should lead to plenty of exciting moments. Li is still looking to become the first Chinese fighter to get into the top 15 of any division, although a win over Zawada won’t get him there. And while this is just Zawada’s second octagon appearance, the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu only have him as a slight underdog here.

Let’s take a look at how you should bet online. Reminder: Live UFC betting is also available on fight night to hedge any of your bets.

Zawada made his UFC debut on short notice, and now he does the same for his encore. These fringe guys need to be ready at all times to snap up any opportunity that comes their way. But just because he’s a complete unknown with barely any octagon experience doesn’t mean he’s a scrub. It only takes one look at the competitive odds to see that.

Earning his stripes in KSW, Zawada has consistently been one of the more exciting fighters on the European circuit. In fact, he’s got wins over former UFC vets in Andreas Stahl and Maciej Jewtuszko. From what we’ve seen, Zawada is a scrapper that takes a lot of punishment to dish it out in return. In fact, his iron chin is probably his biggest strength. Plus, he’s been a decent wrestler the few times he’s gone for takedowns.

It’ll be interesting to see how “The Leech” handles the Brazilian’s aggressiveness. A pressure fighter with heavy hands, Jingliang tends to walk down his opponents and batter them into submission. His hand speed and accuracy are above average, which is why he usually ends up with his hands raised, but he has a tendency to get rocked by big shots as well. Though Li has an amazing ability to recover, at some point that’ll catch up to him.

Bet online: Jingliang to win at -130

Zawada isn’t gonna make it easy, but we need to see more technical skill out of him before we pick him to beat a more experienced fighter on short notice. To beat Li, you need to be extremely technical and refined. That’s definitely not Zawada, who has to try and beat Li at his own game.
