Chinese welterweight Kenan Song (13-3, 6 KOs, 6 SUBs) will meet Alex Morono (14-5, 4 KO, 6 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
Kenan Song’s first two UFC fights could not have gone better: the Jackson-Wink fighter finished both opponents - Hector Aldana and Bobby Nash - with vicious knockout punches. Against Nash, Song needed just 15 seconds to get the job done. His reward? A matchup against Alex Morono in his native country.
Morono is 1-2 with a No Contest in his past four fights, though his recent competition has been solid: Niko Price, Keita Nakamura and Jordan Mein are definitely not easy guys to beat, especially for midcard talents. However, Morono has to know he’s on thin ice here in a stacked 170-pound class. Another loss could very well result in his walking papers.
Either way, the matchup should produce some exciting results: both guys have high finishing ratios, with a balance of knockouts and subs. No matter where this goes, both fighters have the skills to end the fight - plus neither dude is afraid to let the hands go and put their chin to the test.

So both guys average 0 takedowns per 15 minutes, which is a good thing for Kenan. His past fights in regional promotions showed awful takedown defense. We’re sure that training at Jackson-Wink will improve that drastically, but his starting point is so low that you have to assume that anybody with an inkling of wrestling ability could easily ground him.
That’s not Morono, at all. The Texas native is just one of those guys the UFC keeps around because he scraps and puts on a good show. While his octagon career had a promising start, he’s never projected to be any more than a midcard fighter. In fact, he’s had trouble even staying on TV, getting a lot of placement on Fight Pass prelims.
But the fact that Morono is only a slight underdog here says a lot about Kenan. There aren’t many people out there who even think that the Jackson-Wink product is any good at all. I wouldn’t go that far, but like Morono, Kenan doesn’t appear to be anything special. His knockout power is legit, but let’s see how far that can take him. Hopefully training alongside Jon Jones and Holly Holm can elevate his game.
UFC Odds Pick: Morono to win at -105
Admittedly, this is a tossup, but we lean towards the guy that has more experience against far better competition. Morono isn’t a reliable fighter by any means, but he’s put in a lot more work and is just 28. Look for him to take the decision win.
