UFC Fight Night 205: Blaydes vs. Daukaus Betting
Curtis Blaydes (15-3, 10-3 UFC)
Blaydes came into the UFC with a record of 5-0 and he has 10 wins and three losses in the UFC. In his last six fights, he has five wins and one loss. He defeated Justin Willis by unanimous decision, Shamil Abdurakhimov by TKO, Junior dos Santos by TKO, Alexander Volkov by unanimous decision, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik by unanimous decision; while losing to Derrick Lewis by KO. Blaydes has been a pro since 2014 and he has 10 wins by TKO/KO and five by decision. He has two first round finishes.
Blaydes said this to lowkickmma.com about his upcoming fight against Daukaus, I know he’s (Chris Daukaus) a good boxer. He’s very orthodox; he doesn’t do a lot of crazy techniques. He believes in the basic, which is something I also believe in. I know he is also very good at Jiu-Jitsu, and I believe I’m the bigger – I’m faster, I’m more explosive. And obviously, I believe I’m the better grappler. I win the first two rounds, I put the pressure on him, and he has to open up and I catch him on the feet, so I believe I get the finish.”
Chris Daukaus (12-4, 4-1 UFC)
Daukaus came into the UFC with a record of 8-3 and he has four wins and one loss in the UFC. He defeated Parker Porter by TKO, Rodrigo Nascimento by KO, Alexey Oleynik by TKO, and Shamil Abdurakhimov by TKO; while losing to Derrick Lewis by KO. Daukaus has been a pro since 2013 and he has 11 wins by TKO/KO and one by decision. He has eight first round finishes.
Daukaus said this to ufc.com about his upcoming fight against Blaydes, “He has the most takedowns in a heavyweight fight in UFC history, and he is the leading UFC heavyweight in takedowns. He's the best, in my opinion, at wrestling in the heavyweight division. So I'm not expecting anything crazy from him. He shoots a big blast double, he's good against the cage with trips and redirects and he's really comfortable on his feet. He was standing in front of (Jairzinho) Rozenstruik, throwing some bombs, and especially with his stance switches, he's getting really comfortable doing that. His feints, his up and down movement, he's really, really good and I have to not be able to bite on those things and I have to be able to really push the pace on him. He tends to lead the dance while we're in there, and I have to be able to stop that and put him on his back foot. It's a lot easier to wrestle when you're coming forward, but if I can get him going back and make him uncomfortable in certain positions, I guarantee that I'll be coming out there with my hand raised.”

UFC Picks
I don’t know that Daukaus has beaten anyone nearly as good as Blaydes in his career and I can’t make much of a case for him winning this fight, but I don’t lay big prices in UFC betting, so that means looking at the rounds and props. We know that Blaydes is going to be looking for the takedown so Daukaus should be on defense at least for a little while. I think the best choice is to bet the rounds to go over the total. There should be some different options, as you could go over 1.5 rounds, 2.5 rounds, etc., it is just a matter of price. The one option for betting Blaydes is to take him to win by finish and the price should be listed at UFC odds of less than -150.
