UFC Picks
Duraev has alternated wins and losses since coming from Dana White’s Contender Series. He rebounded from a loss to Joaquin Buckley by winning a split decision victory against Chidi Njokuani. Park has three straight victories and a 6-1 mark in his last seven fights.
Duraev would like to get this fight to the mat, as nine of his sixteen profession wins occurred by way of means of submission. He’s a respectable boxer, even though he doesn’t do a ton of damage. Duraev’s most powerful weapon is takedowns. He appears capable of taking down nearly any opponent, whilst he’s additionally quite respectable in relation to protecting in opposition to takedowns. In his four Dana White’s Contender Series fights, we noticed him land a minimum of one takedown.
“The Iron Turtle” is 16-5 overall, with a 6-2 record in the UFC. He is also a fighter who would like to win on the mat. He’s terrific wrestling-wise, with respectable boxing abilities. The Korean lands quite a few strikes, but he gets hit a lot. Park is definitely capable on the mat and he lands 2.33 takedowns and his takedown protection is 70%.
There is no question that the skillsets on these two fighters are similar and the UFC odds on this fight are pretty close. Yong Park is listed as a slight favorite, so perhaps there may be some value in taking Duraev. Unlike last week where I had a strong opinion on an underdog and Alexandre Pantoja delivered, I am not really sold on Duraev or Yong Park.
I think the rounds is the better option. Both of these would like to get this fight to the mat and I think it will turn into a fight that has each fighter avoiding dangerous spots. I think that will lead to the fight going over the total, so I will lay the -140 and take the rounds of 2.5 to go over.
