UFC Picks
Taira has done nothing wrong in his career, winning all 15 of his fights, including all five of his UFC bouts. The question, of course, is who has he beaten? The answer is pretty much no one. Taira could be a rising star but this is the first really significant test of his career. Taira is known as an excellent grappler so there is no question that he will try and get this fight to the mat, but Perez has been solid in his takedown defense, so this will be an interesting battle. If Taira is unable to get the fight to the mat, then it becomes a striking battle and you have to give Perez the slight edge if that is the case.
Perez is the ultimate grinder, so this could be a fight that isn’t the most exciting one to watch. Perez is going to be on the defense for much of the bout and that is not the recipe for winning fights. That being said, we still don’t know if Taira is worthy of the respect that oddsmakers are giving him. I am definitely not laying almost 2-1 in UFC odds on a fighter in Taira who has not faced much quality opposition in his UFC career.
I think the most likely scenario has both fighters scrambling for position and limiting the damage from their opponents. I have had some decent success playing UFC betting round propositions recently. The rounds for this fight are listed at 2.5 with the over at -145 in UFC odds. I think taking the over is the way to go, as this fight should be competitive and we get a decent number in terms of UFC betting odds on the rounds option.
