UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Shevchenko II Betting

Alexa Grasso (16-3, 8-3 UFC)

Grasso came into the UFC with a record of 8-0 and she has eight wins and three losses in the UFC. She defeated Heather Jo Clark by unanimous decision, Randa Markos by split decision, Karolina Kowalkiewicz by unanimous decision, Kim Ji-yeon by unanimous decision, Maycee Barber by unanimous decision, Joanne Wood by rear-naked choke submission, Viviane Araújo by unanimous decision, and Valentina Shevchenko by face crank submission; while losing to Felice Herrig by unanimous decision, Tatiana Suarez by rear-naked choke submission, and Carla Esparza by majority decision. Grasso has been a pro since 2012 and she has four wins by TKO/KO and two by submission. She has five first round finishes.

Grasso said this to mmajunkie.usatoday.com about her upcoming fight against Shevchenko, “This is something that’s done, that’s tradition when a very dominant champion loses for the first time. It’s out of respect, and she deserves the rematch. I’m someone who respects the rules and abides by the company’s decision. Also, for me, it’s an honor to fight her again, because we can’t forget about everything she’s done. She’s a great athlete and has done incredible things for the sport, not only on the female side but the sport overall. Her career has been great. It motivates me even more and makes me train extremely hard because I know she’s doing the same. I know that both of us are bringing entirely new games. We’re coming stronger, faster and more aggressive than the first fight. I love challenges, and this is a big challenge. I can’t say it’s going to be the same fight because I don’t know how she’s going to come out.”

Valentina Shevchenko (23-4, 12-3 UFC)

Shevchenko came into the UFC with a record of 11-1 and she has 12 wins and three losses in the UFC. In her last six fights, she has five wins and one loss. She defeated Katlyn Chookagian by TKO, Jennifer Maia by unanimous decision, Jessica Andrade by TKO, Lauren Murphy by TKO, and Taila Santos by split decision; while losing to Alexa Grasso by face crank submission. Shevchenko has been a pro since 2003 and she has eight wins by TKO/KO and seven by submission. She has seven first round finishes.

Shevchenko said this to si.com about her upcoming fight against Grasso, “I’m going to remind people who I am. I think a lot of people have forgotten. People aren’t rewatching the fight; they’re just watching the finish. I was winning that fight. Now I have a chance to fix my mistakes and show what I was supposed to do the first time. For me, there is no other focus. I live only for this.”

UFC Picks

The question we have to ask is whether or not the win by Grasso was a fluke or not. If we think so, then the price on Shevchenko is a bargain at less than 2-1. If we think Grasso is capable of winning again then obviously the value is on her. I am not so sure Grasso can beat Shevchenko again, at least not now. It could be that Shevchenko is slowing down, as she is 35-years old, but I still think she has more left in her and will get revenge against Grasso on Saturday night. I’ll lay the price and take Shevchenko to win this bout.
