UFC Picks
Volkov is a big fighter, as he stands 6’7” and he is about 250 pounds. He has a huge reach so opposing fighters have to find a way to get through his defense. Romanov is not as tall at 6’2” but he is about 260 pounds, so he won’t get pushed around. Volkov connects on more of his strikes so he does have the edge when the fight is standing. Romanov would have the edge if this fight goes to the mat, but getting Volkov on the mat is not going to be easy.
The UFC odds on this fight favor Volkov and I guess that makes sense, but it is hard to have a ton of confidence in a fighter who has lost 10 times in his career. If Volkov fights up to his ability he will probably win this fight, but you never know what you are going to get with Volkov. We also don’t know how Romanov is going to respond in this fight, as he is coming off the only defeat in his career. You would think he would be very focused and well prepared for this fight and he is definitely capable of winning the bout.
Taking him at plus money is at least worth considering.
I think the best choice in this fight is simply to play the rounds. There are a couple of round options at 1.5 and 2.5. These two have combined for 27 first round finishes. If you want to get the plus money on the rounds you could go under 1.5 rounds. I prefer to lay a little bit of money and take under 2.5 rounds. We get a little bit more margin, just in case the fight goes past the second round. I’ll go under the rounds total for this fight.
