UFC Picks
Fili is stepping in on short notice to take this fight, as he replaced Lerone Murphy who withdrew last month. Ige is listed as a -170 favorite to win this fight. Ige is looking to rebound from a loss to Bryce Mitchell last September. Fili has won two of his last three fights. He is coming off a good win against Lucas Almeida at UFC 296. Ige and Fili are pretty even in terms of striking, although Ige is a little more accurate. Fili is definitely better on the mat considering he has a better takedown average and defends better. Fili would be smart to find a way to get this fight to the mat if he expects to win.
Ige hasn’t really done anything to deserve being listed as a favorite, as he has lost four of his last six fights. Fili isn’t anything special either, as he has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights. I suppose if you simply look at this fight in terms of value then you take Fili at plus money because this fight is really a toss-up. I am sure not laying money on Ige in this fight.
While I do think there is some value in taking Fili at plus money in UFC betting odds, I think the better option is to play the rounds. Neither of these fighters has shown a lot of finishing power in their careers. Ige has five finishes by KO or TKO and five by submission, while Fili has 10 wins by KO or TKO and three by submission. The rounds are listed at 2.5 with the over at -185. I think there is a good chance this fight goes the distance, so I will take the rounds to go over the total.
