UFC Picks
The winner of this fight could be in line for a title shot. They have both lost to Manon Fiorot who is likely going to get the next shot at Shevchenko but the winner of this bout could be next. This fight is the co-main event and it is scheduled for five rounds. Neither Blanchfield nor Namajunas impresses me that much in terms of their finishing power. I think Namajunas is the stronger fighter but we never know about her motivation level. Blanchfield has the win against Andrade but other than that, I haven’t been impressed with her level of competition.
Namajunas has looked good in her last two fights, but I don’t know that I get too excited about wins over Tracy Cortez and Amanda Ribas. When motivated there is no question that Namajunas is an excellent fighter, but we just never know when her heart is not going to be in a fight. If I could trust that Namajunas shows up with a great effort for five rounds, I would definitely take her as a solid play, but I can’t.
What we do know about this fight is that neither of them is likely to get a finish. Oddsmakers are well aware of this fact, as they set the rounds at 4.5 and the over is listed at -270. That is a ridiculously high UFC betting number on a rounds total, especially for a five-round fight, but this is a fight that should go the distance. I lean toward Namajunas at the plus price and the rounds to go over, so perhaps a small flyer on the parlay is the way to go.
